One of the worst yellow card decisions I’ve ever seen. Yellow card for heading the ball?

On a positive note, I won't have to try and work out how to series link MOTD.

9 more months of being "unlucky" :(

The most typical and vintage Southampton display for our return to the Premier League <laugh>

Very good first half, very poor in second half attacking wise. They need to learn to take better options in this league quickly

Full time, some positives for sure but also very disappointing after how the game went.

Now to break the curse of playing well against a top team and losing at home to a crap team by doing well against Forest

McCarthy fecked it. RM made sure it stayed that way. Every sub/change of position/formation made us worse and more desperate each time.

Feels like a wasted opportunity after the sending off but surely it proves that we can't go through the season with Macca as number one GK.
We are not a bad side at all, just need to cut out the suicidal goals.

1-0 down, chasing the game, brings on two inexperienced teenagers. Weird choice that.

Oh well, we tried and I think that's worth some points.

I want to be positive about that, I really do. We were the better team.

But playing well in defeat was a trait I saw from us far too often when we were last in the PL. The only currency which matters is points. There will be many occasions this season where either we play badly and lose, or are outplayed by the opposition and lose. I suspect there will be few occasions where we outplay the opposition - and even fewer occasions when the opposition have 10 men for most of the game - so for that to be the case today, it's very frustrating to have lost. And alas, that frustration far outweighs any positivity for me.

Still, as a (not very) wise man once said "It's difficult playing against ten men"
