Quite sweet really! Reminds me of a neighbour of mine. He'd divorced his first wife 20-odd years ago and set up with a new lady. He died couple of years ago but stipulated that he wanted to be buried next to his first wife. People are strange...

 

I checked into the law on wills, to see if I could leave all my debts to my ex.

Apparently you can, but they don't have to accept them.

Ha ha, I'm in a similar situation (but living obviously). My ex-wife renewed her faith about 10 years ago and as we have three children together, wants to be buried next to me still... But because she's a Muslim (Norwegian with Iranian parentage), and I'm born CoE, but now a non believer, there's supposedly a special dispensation that I can be buried next to her...

Might have to see how the next few years goes before I commit though... Need to keep my options open and bases covered in case there is an afterlife..

 

I used to see a Norwegian lass. I couldn't understand why she would never drink if I took her to the seaside. until someone reminded me that you can lead a Norse to water, but you can't make it drink.

If only it were that easy, as the holder of the deed you think they can just bury you there. Unfortunately on your death the deed passes to your heirs, now if in your will you have left the deed to A person then after the payment of a not insignificant sum of money to the council that person can go ahead with the burial. If not left to a singular person all your heirs need to agree and sign a transfer of ownership.
If you have a funeral plan your desendendants will find out after your burial that it only covered the cost of removing an existing headstone and replacing as is, most people want the added dead persons name adding to the stone, they will find that's another additional cost and procedure.
The details may not be exact, but I do remember it being complicated and expensive. Not aided by covid lock down.

You won't care about that though.
