Lets be honest here, when anyone thinks of GB they think England. Well anyone outside of those nations anyways. it is all a pathetic attempt to gain more medals for England, Commonwealth, what a joke, all the wealth was repatriated to England. it is time for those countries to have their own Olympic teams as they do in the world cup and euros. More palces for players too, more experience spread out instead of getting all the best into one team to lets face it, represent the prestige of England

I really don't like threads like this. They always verge on blazing rows. Personally i couldn't give a monkeys what the other UK nations do. There should only be teams for each country.

This is a football forum first A Liverpool one second. This thread is about football. If Scotland were in the Olympics Fergie wouldn't mind the young scottish lads if he has any, representing their country, he doesn't give a hoot about the young lads representing GB and doesn't want em to go. I don't blame him.. for once Sorry the thread doesn't float the boat of some, don't fkn read it then but please do not bleat on about it should be on general chat. I don't agree with team GB but there is a reason for it, more mefdals is my point, not anti English.. half my family ARE English, dudes and my surname is Welsh.
I swear we had this EXACT debate a few months back (I explicitly remember somebody making the British/Scottish point about Murray too.) GB & NI have been always been a team since the organisation of the modern Olympic games, so I don't see why it should be abolished simply because a few football organisations don't agree that there should be a combined football team. Besides which, it'd be what, a couple of weeks? Why is it suddenly an issue? If they put a GB team out and it was all English players, you can guarantee the same people would be claiming discrimination against the other countries. P.S, THIS (i.e here, where I'm currently typing this) is a Liverpool forum first, football second, hence you'll find posts about things in the area that aren't necessarily football related, but are to do with Liverpool. Why not post this in the international forums if you're so averse to the general chat forum?
This Thread is absolute tosh.....When I think of Britain, I think of Wales ireland and Scotland before England. Britain is the country of the Britains, The celts.........The English came along a lot later from denmark and northern Germany. I call myself british as I am from Celtic stock, I have lived in Englandf my whole life but would never call myself English. Im quite looking foirward to seeing ther best of British playing together. Its only a one off for goodnes sake........Then we can get back to the institutional yet meaningless racism that you get in some parts of the uk to their neightbours........... (Sorry bout the mood, been on the phone to Sky who decided it would be funny to turn off my sports package...)
