I feel like he might be a player that allows Smallbone to deputise at 6 if Downes is injured without it being a catastrophe. And that the first choice midfield will actually be the three of them unless O’Riley or another similar new midfielder comes in I gather he’s a very different type of midfielder to O’Riley so hopefully we are still in for someone else in that mould as well

Part of what apparently got this deal through was Chelsea recognising we specifically would be good for his development I wonder if this could be leveraged sneakily in any other way. We obviously can’t loan any of their players but I wonder if we could somehow arrange a purchase with a relatively low buy back - similar to archer had where the buy back wasn’t much different to the sale fee. So basically another de facto loan and getting round the rules? Not sure if they really have anyone in positions we need that we can sensibly afford though. Other than goalkeepers - they have loads of them

Spoke to my Chels mucker this morning about him & he rates him very highly. Similar to Lavia defensively but scores goals and gets forward more often was initial comments. Thinks he’ll be a very good signing for us and is excited to see him play in Russ system as similar to Maresca
Same, spoke to a Chelsea fan and he was raving about him. Fans are unanimous on Twitter as well that he’s a fantastic prospect
