Ideally yes, but a lot of PL teams play a high line so it's not as important as having someone like Che last season. Archer can exploit the space behind the defence so really excited about this.
If you want to lose it again, go and look at Sheffield uniteds statistics for the season. And realise that we’ve signed their striking duo.
Honestly can’t fault the club for this at all though. We genuinely cannot compete for PL striker prices where we are currently. The market is insane. I have heard through the grapevine that we have been in for other strikers too, but priced out Archer may have some limitations but we have to sign a player like this and hope he becomes a gem.
Pretty pleased with this signing if it happens - in this market £15M seems reasonable value for a young striker with potential. I'm not too fussed about his form at Sheff Utd, he's young enough to bounce back given the opportunity at the right club. Hopefully, we'll be patient with him!
Reading some thoughts about Archer - people saying he's like a raw Defoe - doesn't do much off the ball or in general play, but is a deadly finisher.
Plus his 18 goals in 40 championship games at just 19/20 suggests that if his goals fail to keep us up this season, then he will be more than capable of "doing an Arma" next season.
It’s interesting that Villa resigned him for 14m and are selling for 15m. I guess there is a sell on that they expect they might benefit more from with him playing for us than Sheffield United
