Good Morning. It' Friday 16th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds set to lose out on Rowe

Contrary to earlier reports, Marseille are continuing their pursuit of Norwich winger Jonathan Rowe, and have even submitted a second bid!

It had been widely publicised that the Ligue One giants had exited the race for Rowe due to the Canaries demands of £15m, plus add-ons. According to Fabrizio Romano, Marseilles want to take him on loan, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The transfer guru also mentioned that the England U21 star was keen on a move to the French Riviera, which may be a reason why Leeds are yet to make a bid! Fellow French outfit Monaco have also joined the race, but they will need to sell one of their non-EU players to make room for him, due to stringent Ligue One rules.

Farke refuses to rule out further departures

Its difficult not to be a little apprehensive following Daniel Farke's pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon.

The German followed the Elland Road sermon like he was supposed to, not laying blame at anyone's door, instead insisting 'as contracts run out, it will be less and less of a problem'! For a club of our size and structure to be put in this situation, is unacceptable, and as I have said before the 49ers need to take their fair share of the responsibility!

They held a 44% in Leeds Utd as far back as 2021. Are we expected to believe that it wasn't the their responsibility to check through the contracts of the clubs biggest assets (the players)? Farke has refused to rule out further departures between now and the end of the month, which really doesn't sit well with me!

"If you have a relegation battle you have to make decisions under pressure so I don't want to blame anyone but as long as I'm responsible we'll make contracts where our hands are not tied and we don't give control away because Leeds United is a pretty proud club and I think we should always be in control of the contracts.

"If it means a player with quality doesn't come to us, we'll do without the player. We just want players who are fully committed and don't have a back door to quit. "As contracts are running out and being terminated and new players with new contracts come in, this will be less and less of a problem.

"For the short-term, I'm not too concerned about contracts. "Until the incomings we have to fight perhaps with a bit less quality and numbers and hopefully when the window closes we are in a stronger position."

It all feels very similar to 2006 when we lost the play off final and went down the next season.

The way the players folded on Wednesday and the general feeling of the crowd was very very familiar. Scarily familiar.

The club need a spark and quickly.

Parag Maratha the self proclaimed maestro of sporting contracts. The man who sorted out the contracts for the whole NFL, the man who does all the player contracts for SF49ers. Well what use has he been when he was present for all the contracts that Orta devised, his job was to look at them. Sorry but this window is a shambles.

I got slated on here last season for having a go at Farke and saying that if he failed to get us up we would be in the shyt and we would have a summer even worse than last summer. Well here we are and if we don’t go up this season just watch the fire sale next summer. I had no confidence in Farke last season after watching our capitulation. I have even less confidence for this season as there has been no changes in his tactics and we have now gone 11 games with only 2 wins. Again I blame the 49ers for coming out with the we are backing Farke to get us promoted. Also what is the reason why we have such a big recruitment department? Oh yes we are geared up for the premier league, great idea. Yet we have no evidence of lists of players, just lots of players being sold. Last chance saloon for the 49ers to guarantee their investments in Leeds because failing to go up this season would be catastrophic for them and all the investors. Serious action needs to happen now.

I've been very patient this summer. Give them time I said, let them show us what they are about I said.

They've got two weeks to spend ALOT of money on the right players. The team need points on the board so Farke has to turn the mentality in the changing room as Wednesday was about as poor an attitude as I've seen.

I'd **** off Wober who looked like he was still on holiday. Aaronson isn't any good. Gnonto will down tools next I guess. Rats.

We'd better be announcing signings before the West Brom game on Saturday.

Morning all. Nothing I can add to what previous posters have eloquently stated. I will ask my pharmacist friend later about the possibility of bulk ordering anti depressants. If he comes through I’ll ship supplies to you all, just pm me your addresses

    Yes.

I think we still have too much quality for most teams so long as the mentality is right.

I also think that the 49ers have to invest otherwise the fans will turn against the ownership in a big way.

The dream was to get promoted with our dynamic forward line of Summerville, Rutter and Gnonto. Add a few PL quality players and light the blue touch paper.
We're probably going to lose Gnonto and how many of the others are ready for the PL?
Even if we do go up it's a massive rebuild. Maybe Matteo Joseph, Harry Gray, Charlie Crew, Sam Chambers and James Debayo will save us money if they develop but that is a very big ask.
The biggest difference between us and Boro was that they are a team, we're a group of individuals. We've now lost the key individuals so I think we're in trouble because Farke depends on that.
It's teams that succeed (unless you're Portugal with Ronaldo)
Revie's team, not one or two individuals. The same with Wilko and O Leary and especially under Bielsa.
We're not a team under Farke in my opinion

Lots of fans screaming for us to spend £15m on Rowe, but for me that’s crazy. The money alone is silly because if he was that good then clubs would have been buying him instead of Summerville. Also he has spat his dummy out trying to force a transfer and has already missed 2 games and sent to train with the kids. Do we need another Gnonto and what about Farkes statement on only bringing in players with the right mentality…

Difficult to build any kind of team spirit when you're losing players in every transfer window. The top teams only have to replace a couple per season as they rarely lose a player. See how successful city or Liverpool would be if they lost their best half dozen players in two successive windows

Do you think Farke has ever built a team for us? Those of us who remember it can name Revie's team.
    Sprake/Harvey, Reaney, Hunter, Charlton, Cooper
    Bremner, Giles Lorimer, Gray
    Clark, Jones
add in Madeley pretty much anywhere.
You could also do this for the other managers above.
Could you do the same for a Farke team?

That is a key point and will prove the Farke doubters right or wrong. He will now have to find the tactics to play as a team to win matches as the individuals have gone. But let’s be honest, there’s been many a moan on here about how many times Rutter lost the ball, how much at times Summerville was over greedy and didn’t play others in at the right time etc. expected though when you’re a “flair” player. My main concern is that nothing is coming from the club about working or being close to replacing the players who have left and I don’t think Farke in his presser intimated that we are close to securing any deals. The squad is very thin and I don’t know how near to being ready for the championship Crew and Debayo are. Makes you question the selling of Kamara and loan of Gyabi were sensible.

I think it's why Manure have struggled since Ferguson and why Arsenal struggled after Wenger. I bet we could name the majority of the successful teams for these 2 clubs. After those managers left the owners spent millions on individuals without building a team.

What team spirit would Revie have had if he'd lost four of those players every season. Im not defending Farke, but you're fooling yourself if you think any coach will have success with the player losses at the club. Wont happen without dynamic replacements were not likely to get

    There goes another one....

Blackburn have accepted an offer from Ipswich for forward Sammie Szmodics that could rise to about £11m.
