I fail to see the logic, other than solely financial,to get rid of Bendtner and keep the appalling Chamakh as the back up to the one class striker you have, who is notoriously injury prone. In such a long hard season I can't fathom the sense. The potentially excellent Oxlade-Chamberlain had the beating of Zabaleta all night but found he had nothing to aim at as the Moroccan has the off the ball movement of an arthritic sloth.Coquelin and Frimpong look like 2 more decent midfielders so with Song,Wilshire,Ramsay etc the midfield is as good as most in Europe. But it's futile having all this creativity with no end product so surely Wenger must buy a quality striker in the window otherwise keeping that CL place will be seriously tough and if RVP gets injured will become impossible
By the way what a **** place to get away from,no wonder everyone buggers off early

I thought it was a good performance from the kids but as echoed we really do need to sort out our striking options because RVP is the only decent striker we have - Gervinho seems to be more of an assistant striker.

I'm not fussed we lost, we should've won the game though, but as usual opposing teams get their tactics right against us, sit back and hit us on the break.

If we'd won by 3 goals no-one would have critisised at all but we didn't and we should have, so criticism is due and valid.

Wenger is fast running out of excuses.

I disagree, Wenger set the team up, which he did well - it was then up to the players to perform, which to a greater extent they did superbly.
It isn't therefore a valid criticism of Wenger because their keeper made two top class saves from Oxo and Park and it isn't a valid criticism of Wenger because Chamakh narrowly missed that header at the end. Once the team were on the pitch, he had no influence on those events.

You would have had certain posters saying things like 'it's just papering over the cracks' or 'it's only the carling cup', 'this proves nothing' etc. etc. ec.

True. After we won 3-5 at Chelsea, Wenger was accused of 'papering over the cracks'.
In my book, if you can't take a win at Chelsea and scoring 5 goals in the process as a good thing, then you've got your proirites wrong.

Magic Man that is a load of tosh pal ! If we had won by 1 goal I for one would've been mightily impressed by the kids and excited by what should be a formality in the semi final and the chance to win silverware.

I said it before and I will say it again, many of the In Arsene We Trust brigade cannot argue, all they do is through extreme arguments/examples around as validation for their own views. Nonsense ! Which Arsenal fan on here would've criticised a 3 goal win ? why do you feel the need to exaggerate to the extreme to make your point ??

Thats because we beat a POOR Chelsea not a table topping City ... do you see the difference ??? We conceded 3 goals, are you not dismayed by that ? It proves we are not defensively solid as some had been claiming leading up to the game.

It's not an exaggeration though HotHead. Some people were saying that it was simply 'papering over the cracks' after we won at Chelsea.

Fact is we're out of one cup and it's only November.

Add this to the poor start to the season and all we've had so far are excuses from the manager. He picks the team ergo he is responsible for the result.

How bad does it have to get before some on here realise we are in decline and have been for a while, wake up and smell the coffee before it's too late..

There is no point arguing with you. Hence why generally, I don't. However...

"but as usual opposing teams get their tactics right against us, sit back and hit us on the break. "

How can you make that comment and regard it is anywhere near true? When it the last 10 or so games before last night was that true? How could that possibly be true last night, when the game that I saw (in the ground) and all the reports I have read have mostly stated that we were the better team and quite unlucky. The goal they scored was, unfortunately, just a very very good goal against some young inexperienced players.

Now if you could explain what you meant and how any part of it was correct, that would be welcome.

The fact that you're concentrating on the goals that we conceded rather than the Five that we scored and the 3 pts that we took from Chelsea at their own manor, kind of illustrates the point I'm making.

**** me. We are out of a competition most fans don't prioritise at the QF stage, losing unfortunately to a team of super stars. We are through to the next round of the CL (the only English club to be in this position as you well know). Man Citeh probably won't even qualify. Man U and Chelsea may not qualify and even if they do it's likely to be in 2nd.

We are also only 3 points off 4th place in the league, even after having a terrible start to the season. I have no doubt that we will finish above Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs and possibly Chelsea.

Have a little hope. You sound suicidal.

It was a very good performance with lots of positives - AOX, Coquelin, Frimpong, Kos, Miguel were excellent. Effectively our 2nd string looked better than a collection of ManCity superstars - Wenger is doing a great job at the moment .

an average job that most clubs would love. Who has done better than qualify for the QF's or better in the CL over the last 6 years, finished in the top 4 and got to the final of 2 cups (incl. CL)?

Plus, I'll repeat what I posted earlier.

We are out of a competition most fans don't prioritise at the QF stage, losing unfortunately to a team of super stars. We are through to the next round of the CL (the only English club to be in this position as you well know). Man Citeh probably won't even qualify.
