Good shout, Tim seemed to describe him in the pre match stuff today like he’s met him in person so hopefully that means he trained today
im def guilty of it, football development is not linear, some players develop later than others and patience and time is def needed i think its becasue tan or acun said we were signing some mindblowing striker, then burstows signing that with our current forward situation, it felt a bit 'meh' i hope he does amazing
You grumble on the hour, every hour, about the lack of signings, then when we make signings you pick holes in them. That isn't analysis or hot-takery, it's just pointless noise.
We had to play Sellars-Fleming up front yesterday and he's a long way short of what we need right now. Got to assume Burstow has been brought in to develop but add depth and an option now. Sellars-Fleming could then go out on loan and get a year or two of experience. As long as we have a couple more experienced options up front then it looks a good punt to me. We really need to sort out the wide right area though.
People are perfectly reasonable to criticise signings and you can't just say 'well you moaned at no signings, so when we sign some players, be happy'. People want the club to get the right players in, but that doesn't mean we should be happy with any players. It certainly wasn't the case when Ehab was running the show and it was completely fair.
If people are entitled to criticise signings, people are entitled to criticise people criticising signings.
pointless noise? this thread has 13,868 replies maybe we should just only have announcements posted, so much pointless bloody noise
Why should you be criticising other posters on a forum? It's a debate, a discussion and there would be no posts if everyone had the same opinion.
A cheap 21 year old striker previously deemed good enough to play for Chelsea by Pochettino? He might not be amazing now but I’m sure he’ll end up being worth it in the end… He got 6 in 23 for Charlton aged 18 so clearly there is something there. Players sometimes do better when settled at a club long term
I think he'll do just fine. He's had a tough upbringing and plenty of rejections/knock-backs so he'll be resilient. 10 goals and 4 assists in 25 for Chelsea in PL2 is decent, funily enough it's pretty similar to Divin Mubama and he's signing for Man City. Loans are extremely tough & players do better when they're settled. It might take a year or 2 to see the best of him but that's fine.
Also got picked to play for England u20’s twice. Correct me if I’m wrong but I do believe KLP had played about 100 games and banged in goals consistently before he got that honour. Shows the England set up has also seen something in him to fast track him into the set up too.
as i said i hope he does well and football is not linear players develop at diff stages but if we had no discussion, whats the point of a forum
****ing hell I’d not seen that, wonder if he’s one we try to get on loan given our link with Man City? One established, Burstow and a loan would be decent
Keano didn't get a sniff until the u21s, Mason has played for the u20s. Getting caps at any level for England is very tough these days, it's not like it was 10 years ago. Mubama going there seems completely moronic to me. But clearly money talks. I think he'd be better off going to a Championship club and playing big minutes, but you get it too often and then players take ages to develop and it's not hard to see why. Solanke was the same.
Same with chelsea They sign potential young players Its just to make a profit Not potential first team
Players like Delap are exactly the reason why they'll continue to do it. £15m+ 5 add-ons for a kid who scored 8 goals (I know there's loads to his game) but that fee is still insane. You can supposedly get Tammy Abraham for £25m this summer, off a nasty injury, but even so.
Yea its insane Theres no way delap is worth that price really I think ipswich have done a relegation contingency plan
