Good Morning. It's Thursday 15th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Seagulls trigger last-minute activation clause

Brighton have activated a £40m release clause in Georginio Rutter's contract just minutes before it was due to expire! The Seagulls managed to secure the offer just before midnight last night to avoid attracting attention from other clubs. While this activation doesn't guarantee Rutter's departure, the decision now lies in his hands.

Leeds are desperate on keeping hold of him. Selling him after only 18 months for a marginal profit seems impractical, especially when considering the financial implications of profit and sustainability. The potential £10m profit would likely not suffice to cover the costs of finding a suitable replacement.

    Middlesbrough midweek mauling

Three goals in sixteen second-half minutes saw Leeds unceremoniously dumped out of the Carabao Cup last night by fellow Championship outfit Middlesbrough.

Leeds looked short of creativity and ideas, with much of what they were trying to achieve apparently well above their pay grade. Their often impenetrable backline of last season now seems more reminiscent of Russia's military defense - disjointed, disorganized, and desperate.

Exiting the League Cup early might not be the worst news had the starting line-up consisted players such as Crew, Debayo, and Chambers, but most who featured last night will be in Daniel Farke's lineup at the Hawthorns on Saturday lunchtime.

    Bamford's race is run

It's fair to say that whilst Bielsa's brutal training methods turned the Whites into a lean mean fighting machine, the physicality was only going to be sustainable for so long!

There's a reason why only Patrick Bamford (and Meslier) are the only remaining survivors of the Bielsa babes era. In the Argentine's own words, he would need to keep churning over the players on a three-year cycle to keep the squad fresh. Bamford has survived the culls thus far, due to his ridiculously high contract, which will see the 30yo leech off the club for a further two years!

Putting to one side his poor strike rate, his lack of team contribution makes him more of a liability than an asset. If he were a racehorse, there'd be a poignant smell of glue around Elland Road

Run like a League Two outfit

The thoughts of every Leeds supporter were encapsulated perfectly in one paragraph by leading Data and Tactical Analysis expert Chris Taylor, following the conclusion of last night's thrashing.

Fed up with the ****housery going on both on and off the pitch, the lifelong Whites fan, better known by his Twitter moniker @LUFCDATA pulled no punches in labelling the club 'Premier League in stature, but run like a League Two outfit'.

"Leeds United continue to be a Premier League club in stature, plying its trade in the Championship but ran like a League Two club on so many levels (disrespectful to League Two clubs I know). Rinse and repeat. Dropped a lead balloon of epic proportions with this one".

I saw most off what I needed to know at the back end of last season when every manager had sussed us out and Farke had no plan B.

    More of the same.

If Rutter go's then it really is game over.

    Good morning all
I was one of the lucky ones last night, was out on a family occasion, so missed the entire debacle :emoticon-0141-whew:, i really feel for the ones that had to sit and watch that as so poor by all accounts. it seems one very small positive (reading on the BBC web site) that it could have been even worse if not for Darlow ?.
I am now resigned to the fact their will be no further incomings that will make not one iota of difference, to the performances of this poor Leeds United side.
Once again the club appears to have learnt nothing from previous seasons, and this ones gonna be a long hard slog, it's such a shame :(

Morning all. Nothing to add as I see the Rutter bashing has now started after the Summerville and after the Archie bashing. Im really not interested in fans pretending we get stronger every time we sell a player. Personally muted what's app groups and Leeds pages, This place is my last connection with the club and to be honest it's only for the banter. Ive a family trip booked over in December and I don't expect to travel again unless major improvements in the running of the Leeds franchise or whatever it now is

It all seems a long time, since the heady days of Bielsa, Stuart Dallas with that run which sealed a two one win at the Etihad remembering my chest puffed out feeling so proud and feeling as though this side will conquer Europe, now look at us only a few seasons later, how is it possible for it to come to this.
I am bloody furious with the mismanagement that always seem to plague to us. <grr>

We've ****ed it up already and only two games in.

All very well selling players which we knew was likely to happen but where the **** is the plan to replace them with similar quality. The season has started, any replacements should have been installed by now and to top it all Georgie has temptation put in front of him. I wouldn't hold it against him if he chooses to leave. I mean which one of you would turn down a promotion and pay increase?

No doubt Gnonto will be next and we will be struggling in the bottom half playing catch-up. What a ****ing shambles the leadership of this club is! After the pre-season games and emergence of Joseph I really did have a feeling of optimism and I know this is only two games in but conceding 6 goals at home with no win really does feel like we have shot ourselves in the foot already.

We will be paying a premium on anyone we go after now because clubs know we're desperate.
It is irrelevant though because, first of all, you cannot replace what Rutter gave us. We've seen him get better and better. He's still got a way to go but he's now a fantastic prospect, which he wasn't when he first joined us. We all wondered why we'd spent £35m on him. Now he's becoming the player we wanted we're taking a £5m ****ing profit!
I bet Hoffenheim have a sell on clause too so we'll actually lose money.
Who is the c##t who put a £40m release clause into the contract of a player we paid £35m for? It's laughable
2nd of all, we can't score enough to make up for the goals we're shipping anyway

    Morning all

Gessa posted on another thread we are looking at securing a loan for Buendia that would be a nice start.

Critical time now, it all depends on what we do with the money.

@Eireleeds1 I totally get where you are coming from but Gray was not a RB and he was only a promising midfielder who didn't stand out. Summerville did become a one trick pony, he was a bit of a luxury. Rutter shows a moment of magic but he lost the ball too many times, he was never a Pablo unlocking a defence. I would like to have kept all three but what is the point of starting this season with last seasons team and Farke.

Did you not say towards the end of last season sell the lot of them, they're not fit to wear the shirt or something of that nature

Farke did not get the best out of these players last season.

Theoretically, we should have around £55m to spend - If we spend it wisely and stop the nonsense of a LB who can play CB and a LW or RW who can play 10 and get ourselves players dedicated to the position we need and stop the shoe horning we will be okay.

My concern is that I have no faith in Farke

I just don't see how many changes were needed and to play with no wide men was a massive risk in which Farke has shouldered the blame fair enough. We have played one game give them another 45-60 mins. said I wasn't going to slag players off till after a few games but after last night I have bit the bullet. A few players out there last night that were not playing for the shirt sadly.
    1. Bamford as i said on a previous thread I have defended in the past but my god he looked miles away. leading our line against a couple of very average Centrebacks yes very average is even kind. both had his number all game. runs around like a ballet dancer doesn't jump for a ball, can't chase a ball and is on his arse moaning wanting free kicks all the time when he can't get the ball.
    2. Piroe looks a pedestrian for us people say he's a decent player when played right. I see nothing but a player who we carry on the pitch who just runs around then when he gets the ball he wants so much time on it. we either play to his strengths whatever that is, I still don't know where his fav position is but at the moment we are playing with 10 and a half men when he starts.
    3. Firpo doesn't look a happy bunny. looks like he doesn't want to be here, he can't defend never could. as someone on here said now he doesn't want too.
4.Gelhardt Just end it Farke all the hype is gone he isn't going to make it here. another who looks down in the dumps and needs a fresh challenge somewhere else.
    5. Rodon Has went from hero to zero in two games my god he was awful last night along with Wober both looked clumsy looked like they had never played centre half before. needs to get up to speed asap.
Could go on but Id have the whole squad on here.
Understand we have a very thin bare squad at present and letting players go just hurts us more. but, Boro's squad team completely battered our squad team that's a big problem for the duration of a season as these players will be needed.
Farke said blame him I will. but I also will blame the players out there last night should give there wages this week to charity. sort the fooka out embarrassing this morning and not defending anything from last night cup game or not we were absolute mullered on our own patch.

My only defence of Piroe, he was playing out of position, Bamford was the only player out of Aaronson, Joffy, Piroe and himself to be playing in his preferred position and he was worse than any of them

I'm going to guess but Firpo hasn't been offered a new contract as far as I know so he might not be as motivated.
Wober is slow and clumsy, maybe he doesn't give a **** either.
I think Aaronsson put a shift in but the 3 he was up front with were fkn useless. As I've said, anyone who couldn't see that Bamford wasn't going to get anything out of Clarke is blind or stupid.
I read that we played some players out of position. Howson is 36 and a MF playing at CB. They had Coburn up front who has just been replaced for £4.5m and they want rid of. He was better than Paddy and scored.
the more I think about last night the angrier I get.
i hope they've dragged Farke into the boardroom by his bollocks to explain wtf happened.

Exactly, he is also 18 months into his contract (not sure how long his deal was) so with amortisation that £24 million (or was the fee in €s?) in terms of PSR reduces probably showing a 20 million profit on the books. However we need players in because the squad size is beginning to look very small. I also expect to see Gnonto and Wober to be gone in the next two weeks.

If Rutter go's, then Gnonto and possibly Wober that will be @ what the 49's paid for the club in one season. Quick sale to RB stating this, that and the other as excuses then job done, shareholders happy.
Said earlier that I'm not convinced this is not an asset strip and I remain that way.

I think the only reason we turned offers down for Gnonto was because of the release fee fear on Rutter

If so, then Willie will know that he is not going to get his move now
