We can only speculate, and I'd prefer not to tbh. But I do think that since Cameron fled the scene and they lurched to the right, succesive Conservative governments have been fanning these flames - albeit they never intended these consequences (unlike Farage, who I suspect did).

There is a difference between not appreciating the difference between free speech and hate speech and being a racist. I've said this before on this thread: you can't accuse someone of racism based on someone's view on free speech! I don't agree with his views at all but I've seen nothing to suggest his views are racist. All I can see is that Os thinks anyone can speak their mind, whatever their views, without threat of prosecution. I'm not sure how you stretch that into accusing him into being a racist, but I would appreciate it if you refrained from accusing people of being racist without any hard evidence. Thanks.

    https://news.sky.com/story/violent-...trains-up-by-more-than-50-since-2021-13196789

‘Violent attacks against women on Britain's railways have increased by more than 50% since 2021, according to new data.

The number of crimes against women and girls rose from 7,561 in 2021 to 11,357 in 2023, according to figures from the British Transport Police Authority's 2024 annual report.

The amount of sexual offences jumped 10% over the same period, while sexual harassment reports doubled, the data first reported by The Times also revealed.’

Interesting. I wonder what is causing this uptick in crimes against women?

You have misread it. I am saying if you don’t want to fall foul of the law, don’t be racist.

Tbf, the original article in the dreaded MSM does suggest that much of this uptick is due to a substantial increase in reporting of these instances, if you don’t just read the headline that is. Not saying for a minute there aren’t other factors in play, but that’s a fairly core part.

That would require not wanting to use the article to push a particular agenda.

You say you wonder, but it's fairly obvious you have an answer in mind. Will you have the courage to voice it, and will you have any evidence to support it, are two questions which jump to mind.

There is polling out now about how 60% of the country don’t care who their next leader is. Indication that they perhaps aren’t considered viable at all at the moment : https://www.ipsos.com/en-uk/james-c...ke-good-tory-leader-3-in-5-say-they-dont-care

And it seems like to actually win you need some enthusiasm or a catastrophic performance from the incumbent party. But maybe all the old rules are out the window and there could be a big swing back in 4 years to an opposition lead by someone the majority don’t care about.

The Tory party was always the party of standards, old fashioned values and standards (except for all the sleaze).

Now they are just the shouty, angry party.

    True.

Purple on this map indicates “apathy” aka eligible voters not voting.

To me it shows an indication that neither party was particularly favoured by the country.

The Tories essentially capitulated and alienated their whole voter base.

I wouldn’t say the numbers paint labour in a fantastic light. But it was time for change.

Unfortunately so far they’ve been worse than appalling.

Fortunately yours is very much a minority view inside the UK and overseas. Steps taken like cancelling the Rwanda fiasco, fast tracking foreign prisoner deportations, increasing early non violent prisoner release plus apprehending and sentencing violent rioters and online hate speech posters. This along with confirming adherence to international treaties and moving towards a closer relationship with the EU, seen as a breath of fresh air from this side of ditch. All bodes well for a return to a position of respect in the international community.

Another right winger with wafer thin skin. I guess she must have thought the whole thing was a stitch up which is why she stormed off
