The 8-8-8 horse manure will go down in history. Anyone who fell for that crap needs a head wobble.

Thanks for the explanation FHB <ok>

But the 8-8-8 concept is so naff I'm sorry I asked. Who thought it up, an 11 year old?
Last year we hard (arguably) three elite players in our squad.
    Now all gone.
Not a great example of building a better future.

I really don’t like NJs football. Too many long balls. I talked to John Cartwright once the old U23 coach. He said it is not the long ball or the short ball it is the right ball.

It’s proven to be effective at the lower levels. Nathan Jones deployed exactly the same tactics when Luton went thru the leagues. Our fans will accept it …if it brings wins.

Of course we will accept it if it produces regular results. Aesthetically I don’t like it, also does it play to the strengths of the players we have? I am not convinced.

Some were recruited specifically for this type of job. Whether it suits those who were already in the squad or our youth players coming through is a different matter.

But Nathan Jones didn't get Luton "through the leagues" - he got them out of League 2, then he left halfway through their League 1 season.

To be fair they were second in the league when he left (according to Wiki) :emoticon-0111-blush

Would that he has the opportunity to walk out on us when we're second in the league :emoticon-0152-heart

If Nathan Jones isn’t the one to get us out of this league, we might as well turn the lights off. He will be the 6th (?) to try since Lee Bowyer. It’s gone beyond a joke. Ignore the Spanner WUM, who would love him to replace Bomber Harris. :emoticon-0148-yes:

    I think he's a good sort really.
I might have even been in his presence one time a while back...

A couple of rather large Spanners were chatting to each other in the queue to get into the Bugsbys Way ASDA during the lockdown in 2020.
A few places behind, I listened in on their erudite exchange while all there present waited for the supermarket to open, but I did not make my presence or footballing allegiance known. One of them might have been TC?

In the end I dismissed the notion.
Granted Milllwall don't have many fans, but it would still have been too much of a coincidence.

He joined Luton in January of the 2015/16 season - finished 11th
2016/17 Finished 4th lost in PO semi
2017/18 Promoted after finishing 2nd to Accrington.
2018/19 left in January to replace sacked Gary Rowett at Stoke where Stoke won 3 of his 21 games in charge finishing 16th and he was sacked.
2019/20 Back to Luton - they finished 19th
    2020/21 Finished 12th
2021/22 Finished 6th - lost in PO semi
2022/23 left Luton sat in 12th place in Novemeber to join Southampton where he was sacked with them at the foot of the table winning 1 out of his 8 games in charge.

That's not really getting Luton up the league's is it.

As good as we can expect in our current situation, but do take your point.

I note with wry amusement a growing number of our fans on Twitter & even CL have cottoned on that the owners haven’t spent a lot this Summer.

As we feared, it was all hot air & PR from the spivvy SMT.

“Rich and ambitious owners” don’t have to wait to sell Edun to Gillingham for £75,000 in order to fund a promotion challenge.

Our strategy (8-8-8, more like dial 999) should have revolved around building on the limited amount of quality we already had.

Instead, we let the quality leave, and have ended up keeping the s hit.

Jones should have been told to make his relationship with Alfie May work. End of. He’s Nathan Jones, not Sir Alex Ferguson.

George Dobson should have either been retained with the new deal he richly deserved ,or bought back in . If that costs the investors money - we know whose fault it is . Sack him.

If Andy Scott stuck is head in a barrel full of apples, he would still come up sucking on a tit.

I think the control of recruitment for Jones is misleading.
It would seem that he knew there was a limited budget, and possibly he accepted players would be put to him but HE had the final say so.
