After hearing unconfirmed news that Lucas is injured for up to Six months i have decided that Spearing will probably the man to come into the team as his replacement. I certainly doubt Spearing as a player at Liverpool Football Club, personally i don't believe he is good enough (mind you I said that about Lucas at the beginning) and feel we should have better cover for Lucas. Maybe Dalglish we start with a centre-midfield of Adam and Henderson, however neither of these are defensive and could leave us weak in that department. Lets just hope Lucas isn't injured too badly and that Gerrard will return to the full fitness soon
He isn't a direct replacement but he has certainly done a good job for us in the past. Had a good game last night, set up the counter attack for the first goal and has plenty of energy. The only thing I'm wary of is that he has played well along side Lucas in the 'Spucas' partnership. I'm sure kenny will select a strong enough team to carry us through December and hopefully we wont miss him.
Well i would say that Spearing is our only direct replacement for Lucas in defensive midfield, but im pretty sure he is better than Poulson
I have faith in Spearing if he's needed to step into the Lucas position but we could buy someone in Jan if Lucas is out for 6 month's or they could as Bluff said recall Shelvey, he is flying at Blackpool, scored something like 6 goal's already.
Only thing with Shelvey is that he is flying in the AM role I believe, so it really isn't a direct replacement but he could do it. He would come back full of confidence that's for sure though!
If Lucas misses the rest of the season then the 'Spucas' partnership will not be reformed this season.
"Spucas" Spearing will give heart and soul. He's just not as good as Lucas, but he's better than I thought he was
We'll miss him in the big games the most were he bosses the midfield, We 'should' be able to cope in the lesser games. We could put Henderson next to Adam and play with 2 CMS Rather than 1 CMF and 1 DMF
Blackpool fan in peace. You've recalled Shelvey. Can't understand it, he should be light years from your 11/16. Well, he's light years from where Adam was and that is the role he's been playing. Can any of you see him getting on your bench? Edit, the conspiracy theorist in me thinks Kenny might be selling, Wolves maybe, and he's been recalled to prevent injury. Doesn't make sense otherwise.
i actually thought spearing had one of his best games last night. held his own and wasnt afraid to get stuck in, him and lucas really looked good as a pairing even when he went off and adam replaced him spearing was still doin his thing breaking up play, didnt look like he was relying on lucas to do everything for him.
