The worry is his decision making is awful and he seems to panic when he gets a chance in front of goal. He's still only 21 though.
Been in the gym and had a quick on the official twitter to see a full on meltdown, what have I missed
On the subject of Hjelde, I’m one who simply hasn’t been impressed by him (that sub cameo in preseason apart) worth bearing in mind, though, that at his age Dan Ballard had made one solitary senior appearance and was about to head out for his first stint of regular football at league one level. The door to growth can’t be shut with the lad. Just not sure if he’ll get the right sort of opportunities for us at the current level.
I could see us signing 1 fullback permanently n a loan until January. No point signing 2 permanently with Huggins due back before Janaury
Ha ha aye very true. I reckon most u23 teams will have a higher average age than our starting 11 tonight
We need at least one. Huggins will be a push to play by Jan. The system looks essential for driving fullbacks. We have very limited options there.
Ba seems to be going backwards in his development, no improvement since his debut and if anything gives the ball away more, or did in that game anyway. Felt like Bennette did more in his brief cameo. He always looks good to me but never gets a chance.
RLB would have found out a lot about those players tonight, for me though I thought for that team we done ok
Tough gig when we’re signing a player with the hope that they’ll play as little football as humanly possible. I’d maybe get some old stager in, but are they gonna be able to do better than a repurposed centre half for the small handful of games they’d get before January?
I see what you are saying but I’d be surprised if he’s actually learnt anything new. Maybe gave a few the opportunity to prove him wrong and they didn’t take it.
We need to do something. Sellt, Johnson, Anderson, Hjelde etc. None of these can cover fullback suitably in this system none. Just get dominated and the triangles fall apart.
No surprise twitter is in meltdown but there's no need. For me tonight just reinforced beliefs I had before the game. Mundle and Rigg are really decent options for the main 11, Triantis is pretty decent, AA, Ba and Ekwah need to improve, Rusyn, Anderson and Hjelde are poor. Johnson was pretty good and Moore looks an alright backup.
The jury is well and truly out on Speakman in my eyes, the squad he has built as a whole is nowhere near good enough. We just have to pray that our leading players don’t get injured
That’s spot on. I’d still hope for some stand out leadership like and better decision making but slot some of them into the strongest side who have been organised better for the kick off and they improve. Some however …
Thats the tricky thing, you might get a club to loan you a player thats a back up in the hope that they break into starting line up through injuries or form. Our 1st choice fullbacks are very good imo so going to be hard to sign players to come in as backups Im scouting a few RBs at the minute - loan n perms - unfortunately the couple i really like we'd struggle to get as their teams want them almost guaranteed starters
Was pleasantly suprised by Triantis, his distribution first half was excellent and he’s got a physical side to his game. He’s jumped ahead of Hjelde in the pecking order for me and can cover midfield as well. I think there’s at least 5 in that squad who we will move on in the next couple of weeks.
