Yes, they were poor. We tired badly but their main tactic was lob the ball in and we couldn't defend it. I'd like to think our first team defence would have no problem with them.

I think he has done that on occasion for us. He’s also contributed a fair few times too - most obviously that stint last season when PR was out. Was a bit all over the place tonight but he’s missed 4 weeks of preseason and he’s probably had less than 150 mins in total. I think this thread has massively overreacted to him tonight tbh.

As I said when a similar 11 played against Bradford, this team is never starting a championship game together.

Plenty positives, especially in the first half. Johnson doesn't look out of place despite playing out of position, Triantis looks really decent, Mundle looks very sharp and I'm certain if you surround him with better players such as Cirkin behind him instead of Anderson he'll be more than good enough at championship level. Rigg showed his quality at times, another who will be so much better surrounded by better.

Rusyn, Anderson and Hjelde aren't good enough. I have a slight bit of hope for Hjelde but it's fading quickly. Rusyn was such a poor buy at the time and he really doesn't fit this system, feel for the lad but he's not up to the level required. Anderson needs to be in L1/L2.

Ba, AA and Ekwah must improve. Ba is a worse player now than he was when he joined. AA has quality but struggles to show it. Ekwah is good when he's on it but extremely poor when he's off the boil. Wouldn't be surprised to see any of these leave.

    Please sign a striker.

Ran out of steam Bullied second half by a more physical team Difficult to judge that 11 hasn’t played together before but we tried to play football. Squad could do with a couple more experienced additions with a bit of physicality. As well as a centre forward obviously

I think he’ll know about a few now mind. We all do. There’s a few need to be getting men’s football experience on loan. Elsewhere.

I mean when Ba comes off the bench, he doesnt often change a game for us

He did show glimpses in that spell when he played ahead of roberts (n when roberts was injured). I agree about lack of minutes so far in preseason, im not writting him off at all but need to see more from him

His movement in the box is pretty good (henve why hes in positions to miss sitters), he normally works back really well and he still has moments of quality

The best game i actually watched him was as a RWB - i kmow we dont play that system but i mentioned before that a senior scout in France said to me he always thought Ba would be best as a RB

It's not that clear cut imo.

Eleven players together for the first time are bound to look disjointed.

Hjelde is better than that but was affected by the rest of the defence imo.

Triantis would be better if he was in the first team with better players around him ...

    ... etc etc etc.

First 20 minutes we actually looked fairly good! All downhill since you tuned in unfortunately.

I genuinely can't remember the last time Ba had a good game. Actually I can Norwich away the season before last. Ba generally doesn't flatter to deceive. His head goes down early and becomes very ineffective. He was poor for the majority of last season. He's had over 70 games for us and is usually about 5 or 6 out of 10 for us. After 70 games it's not about potential, it's about performance and delivery. He's just not good enough. Fair enough if you think he is but I just don't know what you're seeing. Watson looks a far better option.

If I had a quid for every time this forum overreacts to a poor performance.... Well I'd probably buy us a striker

Not sure about Adil either mind. I’d want a 10 to be a goal threat and he threatens little. Skilful but toothless.

    Big overreaction as per

    was not that bad

Moore - did okay came for crosses and good saves
    Johnson - average
    NT - solid player
LH - the new scapegoat not as bad as people make out
Anderson - very poor - we need a second left back
    rigg - good
ekwah - can tell he hasnt played much - good he got 90
    AA - good player
    Mundle - good player
Ba - did well imo poor decision making
Ruysn - he is a striker who will do well in a front two only

Think we need a left back - a wide attacking player and obviously two strikers

striker was again so obviously needed

Was going to post similar. You take Roberts out on Saturday and put mundle there are we much worse off? Same with triantis for alese. Be new levels of Sunderland if we got 11 injuries at once

I still have hope for Hjelde, I've probably watched him more than anyone else on here (scouted him for a couple yrs now as my club were looking at him) but he disappointed me with certain aspects of his game tonight. He looks so nervous at the minute and lacking the aggression you need for a CB in english football.

I think he just meeds go go n play 1st team football as needs minutes under his belt

I know we shouldn't loan too many out but he is one id consider loaning out. Id keep johnson n Triantis and bring in another LCB/LB on loan until January when Huggins n Seelt are back
