Yeah was excited about bringing Guehi in and if it was £50m I'd be all for it, maybe £60m at a push but if its true we are around that figure and they are still playing hardball I'd be withdrawing the offer and looking at other options in all honesty.

Generational talent? Not sure he'll ever be in those realms - a very good international but up there with the likes of Moore, Canavarro, Beckenbauer etc? Not a ****ing chance.

This all day. I'm not even sure I'd put him in the good international bracket yet. Whilst he was probably one of our best players at the Euro's he looked very shakey at times for me and lacked a little of bit of confidence and composure that will no doubt come as he progresses and plays more games at that level. Don't get me wrong he was ****ing immense for Palace last season and quite rightly earned his England call up but calling him a generational talent is a far ****ing stretch. That's all for the media that though and trying to control the narrative around all of this hoping we're just gonna roll over and up our bid, If someone wants to spunk £65m on him based on a good season last season and a reasonable summer at the Euro's they're more than welcome to him. Personally I think we'll regret letting Minteh go more than we'd regret not paying £65m for Guehi but we'll see what the rest of the window brings us I guess.

I cannot believe we either haven’t scouted better value, or can’t get Chalobah, Tomori, Thiaw for around half what Parish wants. I think another reason we’ve ****ed this up is because Palace don’t need the funds having sold Olise.

I dunno, we seem to be ****ing idiotic in the market and have been for a year or more.

    PM - “I’ve got this player……”
EH - “does he play in the PL?”
    PM - “….well, no? Why?”
EH - “get the **** out of my office”

Van den Berg from Middlesbrough would probably be a better value for money signing than Gooey or whatever he's called. (no laughing at the back!)

It’s funny as we clearly had £60m for Olise so Guehi wasn’t even our priority at the start.

It’s a bad look for Mitchell, whoever is to blame. Not only is it a really mid/basic choice (like, anybody can see Guehi is ok, where’s the actual scouting?) but it appears to be a really stupid, unaffordable one that is going to make us look amateurish and ultimately smaller than Palace.

Really poor. The commercial and off-field leadership seems to be incredible, the on-field stuff is weak.

And if we got £15m for Miggy it's only a £50m outlay which is **** all in the grand scheme of things.

I literally said a couple of days ago that I'd prefer to use the money to buy a RW and CB as it was getting too much. I even named the kinds of players I thought we could be in for. If we end up getting in a £30m CB and RW instead that's exactly what I was asking for before this seemingly fell through.

The mental gymnastics from me will be if we suddenly splurge £65m+ on Guehi and I have to convince myself he's worth it.

Throw in the fact we offered initially £40m but then want £20m for Miggy <laugh>

Wouldn't be such an issue but we've left it so late in the window and Palace will know it.

Also are we allergic to signings from abroad? We could fill both our problem positions with signings from Europe for basically the price of one Marc Guehi

This I cannot fathom. Has the club been so burned by Tonali? Who’s to blame for this “must be from England and, preferably, English” bollocks? As I’ve said before what’s even more ridiculous is our best players have been signed from abroad.

It's clearly something coming from Howe and the Tonali situation has probably been used as leverage.

It might be the right way to go but it looks like Newcastle will now do nothing this summer.

Hmm. Just look foolish. This is Ashley tactics - “look, we tried. Couldn’t get it over the line.”
