Said it before, I'll say it again, losing to Bournemouth, Luton, Forrest, Everton losses were the difference last season. The last 3 of those losses were in December at the end of the hardest run, during the worst injury crisis we've had in years. Bournemouth loss was after travelling to Dortmund and getting ran ragged out there. Everton loss after beating Chelsea, drawing with PSG, beating Man U all in a week with the same starting XI and 1/2 subs per game only. The Man U game being the game Pope dislocated his shoulder also. Forrest and Luton the last two games during the festive run of 4 games in 10 days... (beat Fulham and lost to Chelsea on pens during that 10 days). Hard to say but even winning just one of those games would have meant we finished above Chelsea in 6th...
Injury crisis was chronic simple as that and we had our worst run in years in December to January. When we had 7 first team players out for most of the season and still were 1 win off top 6, then we clearly are not in away far far off it.
Ultimately we’re all on the same page, right? Nobody asking or expecting an overhaul just literally two players! Could be just one, if Guehi signs. Then it’s about far, far better squad management that was shown last season. But then Hall, Miley and Tino can now be trusted, Kelly and Osula adds a bit of depth. Sometimes i just have this feeling we could be a real threat to the very top of the tree this season and the fact we’re being overlooked by many “experts” is a good thing.
When I said weren't I was referring to your statement that we were at least 2 or 3 top 1st team players from finishing in the top 6. We weren't, we had 7 top first team players missing for most of the season and we're still only 1 win off 6th.
No they finished below us and it was Man City's carefree attitude to the FA Cup ultimately cost us a European spot.
I’m not hating on Madueke, but again question why our scouting is solely based in England? Makes no sense when you consider Mitchell has been in Monaco and Germany for the past few years and further fuels the idea that Howe is being allowed to put his foot down. The alternative suggestion is Mitchell has no idea who’s a better right winger than Almiron or a better centre back than Schar or Burn.
Bedwetters warning - please do not read!! Luis Diaz has been linked to Manchester City for £70m That means Liverpool will look to sign a left sided forward. Gordon
City don't want or need him. Liverpool wouldn't sell him to them. We don't want to sell Gordon. I'm not convinced Liverpool really want Gordon, especially not as essentially a swap for Diaz. Apart from that it all checks out i guess.
He's not a ****ing superstar or generational talent. I say that as someone who rates him and wanted us to sign him but bloody hell swerve and swerve hard. When you have Chalobah been frozen out by Chelsea just a few miles across London who we could probably get for half the price or less I know what I'd be doing.
If we’re going as high as potentially the same cost as Branthwaite then I would be heading there and ****ing off Manchester United
If that's true and they're still digging in it's time to walk away. I think it speaks volumes that nobody else is in for him and I'm even more shocked that the bin dippers aren't especially with VVD entering the final year of his contract. Whilst he's better than some of the players we have at the club in that position, I don't think he's ever gonna be top top drawer material regardless of the fact that he's been picked for England and he certainly ain't worth £65m in my book. There are alternatives available who are similarly better than what we have at the club currently that would cost significantly less than Guehi. I'd still have him here if a deal can be done I can't see us going back with a 4th bid, nor should we. That just sends out the wrong message to everyone and I think we've proven on more than one occassion that we're happy to either wait, go elsewhere or just make do. **** it, stick Big Joe in there....job done, we've got **** loads of midfielders anyways !
