I don't disagree in the main but it's pretty normal for one of the "big 6" to finish in the 7-10th spaces, in fact I think they've only actually occupied the whole of the top 6 once or twice in the past 20 years. Realistically one or two of them will have a dodgy season and that opens up the spots for 4/5/6th, if we get 70+ points we get Champions League, if we get 65+ points we get Europe. It's about what we do.
Arsenal are miles ahead of us, they have a second string who could sneak top 4. Liverpool should be and I fear Slot is actually going to be decent. Spurs are probably not getting top 4, they had a bounce at the start of last season but then looked worse and I suspect they'll struggle to push higher than 5-7th. Man Utd, who knows. Chelsea have an excellent team on paper, with Poch they're finishing top 4, now who knows...
By the same token it's normal for all those clubs to finish above Newcastle and everything else is just fans finding reasons to back the underdog.
We'll do ok, probably. Hoping for a fun season. Then, next summer we can scrape around for months trying to buy a couple more players that have the PL experience premium added to their price tags.
I expect Man United to be vastly improved this season and Chelsea were already flying for the back end of last season. These clubs have squads worth hundreds of millions more
Arsenal went from being a complete bucket of ****e, to runners up. Nobody seen it coming the way it did. I'd like to think we could do something similar. After all our second string finished 7th
I think both will struggle. Man I already have their best signing and their CF injured for weeks on end. and Maresca won't last the season
I don't think 7th would be bad... anything higher and they've overarched. If a side starting games with Krafth Burn Longstaff Murphy gets top 6 they've definitely punched above their weight.
I'm not sure. Man Utd looked quite good against city the other day. Well drilled and threatening. Chelsea... Perhaps. They keep buying so many, hopefully they take an age to gel again. Regardless of how anyone else does, I think we can damage a lot of teams this season, including the big guns, if injuries are kinder to us.
See I reckon if they can get a team out of Pope Hall Botman Guehi Liveramento Bruno Joelinton Tonali Gordon RW Isak With GK Targett Burn Schar Trippier Miley Longstaff Willock Barnes Murphy Wilson Its got a hell of a potential.
None of those are first team starters, and when they were we finished 4th. 7th shows us losing ground, it's bad.
In an ideal world we might see that 11 one day, but I'm willing to offer a season long avy bet that for one reason or another we never ever see it. We're already going into the first round of games with the mostly likely side containing Longstaff Murphy and possibly Krafth. That's 4 sub standard players out of 11.
Guehi isn't signed and either is the fictional RW player mate and even if they signed they aren't going to get starts for a while. Botman is injured and Tonali can't even be considered until I think Spurs and he's unlikely to start or be at his best for a while. I'm saying 7th, but a few places either side of that is possible though.
We finished 7th ? This we finished 4th story is only going to lead people down the wrong road this long after. The other clubs change every season it's gone. The overall picture of where the club is in comparison to the other clubs is more telling
The fans can't wait to crap on yesterday's hero's..like a shag they got sick of having and now they want knew meat Trippier Almiron and Wilson the latest to realise they're nothing but bog roll to be used up and thrown away. Oh well
