I wouldn’t have thought a lot. Most were fringe players at best. I doubt young Archie was on mega bucks. Summerville must have been the only one on decent championship/reduced premier league wages. He’s chosen them and he might be brilliant but still an unknown quality at this level. Anyway, can’t miss what you’ve never had.
Bamford will still be collecting 40k a week plus win bonuses. That's 3 good Championship players wages.
You do know what asset stripping is don’t you. What I would like to know is, why do Leeds continue to attract these schisters year after year
What makes you think that they are asset stripping? They have a good record in sports teams and like it or not we need to meet PSR rules.
I'll answer that for you Emu About £5 million per annum, so in football terms not that much. This is based upon those players who were contracted and at the club on the day of the play off final, and the figures used for their salary, is based upon the highest found on one of 4 sites that quotes these things. Thus whilst 3 sites quote Shackleton as being on £1,500 per week, I've based the figures on the one that says he was on £9,100 per week Any player who went out on loan for the whole of last season is obviously not counted, whilst of course those that came in on loan are. Given that neither Spence nor Roberts were at the club for the whole season, I've based my figures on what I could find for Roberts. For this season, I've only taken into account new players signed and those that have returned from season long loans. Thus anyone who has signed a professional contract has not been included. Whilst therefore the figures are at the best logical guesses, some of them will of course be incorrect, and thus I've used figures that theoretically should show the best savings on salaries between this season and last. I've bound to have missed someone, but this should be a decent indication.
Football clubs aren't worth buying to asset strip. A load of the 'value' is the goodwill associated with the name/brand, as tangible assets are limited - pretty much the ground and the players and the likes of the TV rights will only reflect the clubs position in the league. The ground would be unlikely to be able to be sold off for development unless a new ground was being built.
I refer to my post made on the 7th June 2024 https://not606.com/threads/the-lufc-breakfast-debate-friday-7th-june.412995/#post-17600106 Whilst I fully admit that these are all best logical guesses based upon historic audited accounts, I wouldn't say it's a shock that we have needed to raise so much from sales. As always I may well be totally 100% incorrect, but until someone else goes and looks at all the financial evidence and is able to provide a differing opinion, I think it is very harsh to make a judgement call on the financial situation. All I can say is based on the historical financial information of the last 6 years audited accounts, the level of player sales that we are having to make this season, doesn't come as a surprise to me.
Meslier is absolutely crap, has been for the last 3 seasons, Farke is a fkg joke for not seeing it and not replacing him, Darlow is average only and then we buy back a Salford wa nk keeper , sorry don’t get it!!!!
We have sections of our supporters who genuinely hate other sections. Some unbelievable clowns. You can’t question anyone or anything about the club and expected to sing every players name for 90 minutes regardless of performance. Yet those same players can leave the stadium and ignore young fans that idolise them
When I'm in the stadium I try and support every player in a white shirt. Even the rats. It's the only thing you can do to give them the best chance of winning the game when you are physically inside the stadium. I have my reasons for not liking some Leeds players. Im not keen on Bamford cupping his hand to his ears to the kop a few years back. He's had amazing support and to do that to the crowd (who also help pay his wages) was massively disrespectful. I still give him encouragement when in the stadium. I don't like Gnonto. He refused to play for the club. Not acceptable. Get rid ASAP. I do not boo him when inside the stadium. In short, I think chanting players names does help with confidence. Booing certainly hinders confidence or a willingness to "die for the cause" so to speak. That's why I have been saying the booing of Aaronson and Wober has to stop. It helps nobody. The aim is to get promoted, not create a divide between players and fans.
Suppose I'd better add to my previous post that they are my humble opinions. You pay your money and you can air your views.
Perhaps the same for other clubs but we always seem to have 3 or 4 pieces of deadwood that we can't seem to get rid of. One piece of business I'd like to see us do is, go back to Marseille give them a reasonable price for them to buy Meslier then go out and get better, he is going to keep costing us this season, as he has the previous 3. I don't care what Farke says about him, he is an awful keeper and if Farke thinks otherwise then I feel we have the right to question his view.
I doubt there will be little chance of Meslier moving on. Think it was DF himself, when explaining his choice of Ampadu as captain, who threw into the mix that Struijk and Mes, were an important part of the senior group of the squad. I do think his positioning and shot stopping hasn’t seemingly improved over the last few years, which is a real worry, but I think we are just going to have to live with it.
