Preston North End can confirm that manager Ryan Lowe has left the club by mutual consent. Ryan joined the club in December 2021, leading us to 13th, 12th and 10th-placed finishes in his two and a half seasons as the club’s first team manager. Following discussions that took place on Sunday 11th August, it was mutually agreed that now was an appropriate time for a change to be made. Ryan leaves with the thanks of everyone at the club for his hard work, dedication and commitment, and we wish him and his family the very best for the future. For the two upcoming fixtures against Sunderland and Swansea City this week, Mike Marsh – accompanied by Peter Murphy and Ched Evans – will be in charge of the team. Arrangements beyond these two fixtures will be announced next week.
Why would Argyle look at anything Preston does and even contemplate copying it? Lowe only raises a passing comment or two these days and we got a better deal when he suddenly departed from us. However, whilst here he was considered decent enough at the job. As for Rooney I heard plenty of comments wondering why we were hiring him and more that questioned the wisdom. However I have not heard cries of "Rooney Out" lately and people have come to accept his tenure until it is proved all things go tits up which lets face it happens with a shed load of Managers not just him. I would think Preston fans would be more concerned about the second departure in a matter of weeks and pehaps wonder what is wrong behind the scenes at their own club. Two gone in three games is a bit of a record.
There is a point about the choice of managers and the overall management of the club. Ridsdale is a business manager who may have learnt little from his time at Leeds and Cardiff though he has kept NE within spending limits. As regards Mr Marsh, he was one of RL's management team and should have left with RL. Looking at the highlights of the 2 EFL Games, certainly luck or lack of it played a huge part in the defeats including referee decisions. It does look as though the choice of managers is between Heckinbottham and Barry-Murphy. The cheapest option would be Ched Evans!
You forgot to mention Risdale wad also at Argyle. Apparently when we were in dire straights and about to go financially tits up he was on a walking holiday and just passing. He dropped in and stayed a while so he must have had a lot of holidays stored up. We were in Admin and he sold players for a real Delboy knockdown price. Bolaisse went for £25k for example. He got paid a fair ole amount of money for his time here. He was a bit known for some magic with finance at Cardiff and he wasn't much different at Leeds by all accounts. Mr Marmite but I wouldn't trust him to hold onto my pasty whilst I blew my nose. I'm not sure how he manages to get other jobs in football still.
Unfortunately yes we did but as soon as "the next owner" came along he was off. We were saved by a dodgy Banker type but at least somebody who knew his way around a balance sheet. Fortunately we now have a decent owner who is open with the fanbase but you never forget the dodgy types you nearly had.
