where have I said we should kick the ball long? you wont be able to find it because I have never said it it is a figment of your imagination a 'straw man' argument
Read my post the other day , our back got collectively are not technically good enough or quick enough to keep ‘easy’ possession , Greaves cushioned them last year as he was comfortable . Nothing wrong with passing from the back providing your players are able enough . As for movement , Spain gave England a lesson in finding space as Real Madrid do ,and come unstuck mostly .
Yes you're right Peter, I am sorry. Hopefully Tim gets his act together and we start passing to the right player from now on. I've got work to do now, have a lovely day whatever it is you are on with.
I think Jones and Coyle looked fine on Saturday. Macca has looked ok in preseason but struggled on Saturday. Jacob is a good player generally but I dont think he can play this style. I really think given his performances and Giles' situation they dip into the market for a LB. Maybe look at offering Brandon Williams a deal given he can play both sides
Pandur threw the ball out at one point. He even kicked long quickly after collecting it on occasion. Something so simple but quite refreshing after not really seeing that under Rosenior. Although Allsop did mix it up he was often under instruction to slow it down and play out from the back. Although we are doing something similar we certainly seem open to release the ball quicker to counter.
20-30 yards from a goal kick is 'long' in your opinion? I think you will find that footballers dont class that as a long ball a football pitch is about 115 yards long kicking a ball long would, I suggest, be kicking it into the far side of the centre circle from a goal kick a distance of 50-60 yards that is a lot more than my suggestion of 20-30 yards
I'd love to see the keeper that can play perfect 20-30 yard passes to the middle of the field in your wonder system. Especially from a dead ball goal kick where most of Bristol's players were set up
Allsop would regularly hit it long and led to us scoring a number of goals. Passing short only works if you occasionally mix it up.
I'd say plenty of keepers can pass the ball 20-30 yards it doesnt have to be to the miiddle of the field - passing to a player on the touchline is allowed if the goalkeeper isnt good enough to pass a ball 20-30 yards then a defender can always take the goal kick the defender can still run forward to avoid leaving attackers onside even if the ball is wayward
