I imagine he'll play in the league cup tomorrow night and then they have at least 3 EFL Trophy games as well. Plus, judging by the mess Jones made of one of the Port Vale goals I think Young will be starting soon
He'll still get a lot out of being in a first team environment in men's league football. I suspect he'll play in any early rounds of the cup they have.
They won and he played 70 minutes. Great experience for the lad, away from home in a European competition. Much better than playing for the 23s, surely?
Love seeing this thread get going, I think it will be a really popular one this season. One thing though and sorry in advance for being a pedant, and this isn't aimed at anyone in particular because I see it all over the forum by tens of different users. Our reserves play in the u21 competition, Sunderland abandoned the u23 whilst we were still in League One.
Ba is a talented lad, his future is a mystery to me though. I can't tell if he just needs coaching and experience to iron out his flaws or if he'll always be a bit of a headless chicken.
Definitely coaching, he's very good at going past players and causing defenders problems, the issue is he always tries to do too much, has to learn when to keep it simple and when he has done enough, he'll beat two and instead of crossing or laying it off he'll try and beat a third. I'd like to see RLB instruct him to take no more than three touches, something like that.
