They play different positions tho, hibs dont have many CMs so thats why he got moved to play there Watmore barely played for hibs then burst into our team the season after when we were in the PL
He could have tho, as hes a left footed the perfect play would have been a yard further forward so he could have maintained his pace to hit it with his left foot - thats the perfect pass for him in that situation
Agree with you there, it was a golden opportunity and he should have done better. Just don't see it as a big deal especially considering he did force a save.
Any natural striker should be able to use any foot in that position, its no good constantly expecting the ball to be played on your strongest foot all the time. We need 2 new strikers imo, one a permanent signing for upto 5m and a good loan signing from a Premiership club, not another Burstow though. Rusyn should be competing with the young lad as back up and Hemir and Mayenda should be loaned out. Just my opinion though
With regards to Mayenda.. He is young, needs to learn physicality, needs to be a second sharper, and what he will give us I think would be excellent. Oddly enough I just watched the last episode of Series 3 of STID which has the Wembley Final - Clarke misses a similar chance to Mayenda, then Vokes misses a very similar chance - I wouldn't give Clarke up for the world now and there was a time where I wished we had someone like Vokes. **** happens and people shouldn't be overly harsh on the lad. Also interesting to see fan commentary about Ross Stewart when he arrived .... we've got to trust RLB as they see these lads every day in training
Well thats always a mystery to me when teams like Boro for example have spent around that tbis season with less gates and shirt sales than us?
I disagree with you Tees about the flak towards Mayenda. On another day, his shot goes in and which foot he uses isn't an issue. If he shoots right-footed it's not a 100% goal anyway. Could be tame shot, wide, straight at the keeper, etc. Some promising signs with Mayenda imo. RLB obviously rates him and sees the potential.
Most strikers will try n use their stronger foot tho, thats normal - what the best ones do is they learn in time how to position their bodies better to do that. Haaland for example will rarely shoot with his right foot but hes learnt over games to position his body better to get it on his left foot quicker Mayenda still got a shot away and it was a very good save - i agree he has to do better n i bet he would say the same I agree about the 2 strikers, im not fussed how much 1 costs as long as they can hit the ground running n i like the young lad from spurs as think he will give us something different Id loan out Hemir n I've told theres some interest in rusyn on a loan as well
Because they sold 2 players for loads of money thats why Same with Boro but weve covered that previously
Fair enough mate. Thats what this board is all about sharing our opinions. Some people take it to heart though and get all defensive over players when people say anything negative about them.
Mate we went through this the other day. Boro have made a huge profit in the transfer market over the last 2 years, we have made a loss. They made around £40m from Gyokeres and Hamer.
Boro sold more than that tho, sourpatch explained this the other day so no point going over it again Look at net spend over a few seasons and youll see teams have brought in a lot of money
We havent spent a penny yet this season and unless that changes in the next few weeks how can we possibly expect to compete for promotion
I def dont take it to heart, i couldn't care less what you think of a player (i mean that in a respectful way by the way, not being a d**k). I know what i see with my own eyes and know what i look for in players I dont mind folk criticising players performance or commenting on improvements areas but i just dont get writing players off after so little minutes on the pitch for us
We spent 12m and made 10m, so we were actually 2m out of pocket. Its not alot really is it for a club of our size.
