If he had the ability to use his right foot he'd have scored. Look at how much of the goal he had to aim for if he did. Instead though he shaped up awkwardly to use his strongest Left foot and missed an absolute sitter instead.

There was 1 moment in the 2nd half where he did it perfectly, pushed off the defender to create the space took a nice touch into his stride...... then passed it straight to an opponent!!

He will learn how to play with his back to goal, be great when ballard is back fit as id be playing mayenda against ballard at training to learn how to hold off big strong CBs

that is what i meant by 'second guessed'...i mean i obviously have no idea what he was thinking but i think he was pretty sure he was going to bury it then tried to adjust for his left foot, think someone else mentioned they thought the ball slowed, basically, there were several options open or happened at the same time, he could have blasted it into row z but he managed to get it on target and i saw enough of him to make me think he will cause plenty of problems.

I love the optimism mate but your not really praising him for hitting the target from here are you?
Id love him to he a success, but unfortunately at this moment in time he's miles away from being a Championship striker. I really hope he comes good, ill support any player that wears our shirt, but sometimes you just need to be brutally honest, and he's just really not very good at the moment. On the plus side he's still very young though so he has lots of time to develop, i just hope its not starting games with us this season though. Screenshot_20240811_120323_Samsung Internet.jpg

Would be a shame to see Toney go over there. I did think there’d be more interest in him this summer mind

Yep remember that one as I went ‘there you go that’s better’ swiftly followed by ‘nevermind’

but that’s what a 19 year old does

I had the exact same thing, it was brilliant CF play and the pass was the correct decision but execution was poor

I was encouraged by his performance tbh, def some real frustrating aspects but i liked some of his movement in the 2nd half. Liked the run in behind then right foot shot, was a weak shot but he made a good run n good quick shot

I meant Rusyn when he comes on. I think he actually moved well. Mayenda got smashed to bits all game.

Big If ,but if we dont bring in an oven ready striker, maybe alternating the central striker options may be speed development from within , which may handicap our promotion chances but might be better than pinning putting all our eggs in one basket, so to speak.

Mayenda can hit them off his right, his only senior goal I believe was right footed for Sochaux, and he scored again with his right for the u21 against Bristol last year.

He looks rushed in front of goal, he’s snatching at things and I noticed this pre season as well, often has more time than he realises and should opt for placement.

I’m in two minds if he should start at Preston as it would be a nice show of faith in him but equally Rusyn deserves a chance to stake a claim.

I disagree, it’s slagging off, it’s something a number of our fanbase love to do, one bad movement “he’s ****e”. Jobe as I said was called worse than ****e yesterday even though he was one of our best players.

my opinion is that he should’ve scored but the keeper still made a good save. I don’t have to or want to call the lad ****e, he’s a young lad put in a very unnecessary situation and almost got a goal, hope he improves further but he needs help from those above.

I've seen and will go on to see better players than Mayenda miss easier chances than his yesterday.

He had a chance on 60 minutes where he got a shot away on his weaker foot that was blocked by their defender.

The lad needs a run of games to get the belief he belongs there.

When have I ever said we should all agree with each other? I’ve put my opinion forward, i disagree with yours, you disagree with mine.
Stop going off on one because I think the criticism from some is way over the top.

Because youve said its slagging off when clearly its not. Slagging off is name calling, all im doing is giving my opinion on a player who i dont think is good enough to be in our starting 11
