He's not worth 30 mil surely? What did he do at Juve? His Prem experience is limited. I mean stranger things have happened.
I'd rather keep him by the way, and to not because we are a wedded to a style does feel odd. There is no other creativity.
He's young, he's got loads of potential and he's on a long contract. All of those drive his value up. We'd be ****ing stupid to sell him for anything less than 30mill.

Maybe you are right. I agree with the potential. I want him to stay and show Russ what he can do, but he doesn't seem to be in his direct plans.

We haven’t even replaced Stu yet. And we know how blunt we can be without that player who can link midfield with attack, turn and drive with the ball and make things happen. Alcaraz offers that. You need more than one of those in your squad too. I’m sure we would rather sell ABK, Tall Paul, KWP (because we’ve bought his replacement and we don’t want to lose him for nothing next year) and KS but if we struggle to shift them we probably need to consider it.

Carvalho’s not worth 27.5m either. I know i keep banging on about this but he absolutely isn’t. I’m not even sure there is any evidence he is significantly better than Alcaraz - but he is more used to living in this country.

Carvalho’s prem experience is also limited. MoR’s would be non existent.

I agree re carvalho. This seems to be a Liverpool premium that gets accepted by some clubs.

Am I the only one on here that has a niggling feeling Tall Paul will be a surprise this year. I don't know why, but I really think if he stays and we use him, he will turn out to be quite useful.

Could be a genuine option. I don't think he should be written off at all. Again why sell him for a massive loss to go towards an unknown? Give him a season

You mention it so much, it is almost suggesting this is a new phenomenon. There have been thousands of overvalued players sold this century, and he will not be the last overvalued player sold this week. Also, it is missing the point that a player is worth what someone is willing to pay. If Brentford pay it, he's worth that to them. Liverpool got their reserve price - presumably he was probably worth them keeping him in their squad at much below that. That's basically how markets work, as I'm certain you know. I've lost count of the number of things I've bought on eBay that are not worth their price to anyone but me. :emoticon-0148-yes:

I can’t see a scenario where Martin will opt to play in a way that would utilise him. Could be wrong of course but unless he is far more adjustable in his way of playing I can’t see him ever choosing the “lump it to a big man” strategy in games, so he won’t be used.

He’s in the same category as Charly unfortunately/fortunately depending on your view. The club have sided with Martin so players who don’t fit in will leave. Charly is obviously the disappointing one as he clearly has something, but it is what it is.

Is Charly definitely off? He only didn’t play in the friendly as he was suspended.

£27.5m is practically sofa change in this market for a player who has had a decent impact everywhere he's gone. Basically we're the tightest team in the league - unless of course there's a completely unproven, average player out there from a minor league who no one else is after. Then we'll pay decent money.
