This was the 3rd album I ever bought, back in 1978, at the tender age of 13. Still my favourite Jam album and I dread to think how many times I've listened to it since, comfortably in the high hundreds! Oh that 1,2,3,4 intro at the beginning brings always takes me back. Incidentally, if anyone's interested the first LP I bought was The Stranglers Black and White, closely followed at number 2 by Blondie's Parallel Lines so that kind of shows where I was at in my early teens.

Albums purchased with my own money 5 Bob a week paper round
1st Rod Stewart, every picture tells a story
    2nd Black Sabbath, Paranoid
3rd the Moody Blues, in search of the lost chord , brought on the advice of my nutty art teacher because it would " expand my mind" just what a 14 yr old needed, he was later that year committed <laugh> I still play it

Black and White was the first album I bought too! I was 14 at the time, it is still one of those that I go back to frequently.

Before there was punk, I was collecting SAHB albums. I had 5. A couple were on tape - Tomorrow Belongs to Me and SAHB Stories. The others, Penthouse Tapes, Next and Framed on vinyl, the latter 2 from Beanos.

When punk happened, I bought everything you'd expect...eventually. a lot of my early punk albums were originally on home recorded tapes, off records borrowed off mates, as money was tight, given the expense of gigging and football. Beanos supplied the vinyl a little further down the road, when I had a few quid and stuff started to get sold off.

I acquired lot of singles. They were smaller and easier to acquire without having to worry about payment (I'm ashamed to say). No wonder Woolworths went out of business!

One of my all time favourite albums is Argus by Wishbone Ash , I brought it after walking past Past and Present Records in Watford and found a fiver on the ground , considering I was earning £7.50 a week as an apprentice this was manna from heaven to me and went in the shop brought it and still play it regular to this day
