In a footballing career yes 23 is young. He's before his prime. Just learning his trade still. McGloughlin was extreme poor today yet nobody wants to mention that much. It's all about Jacob.

A better team than Bristol C would have made us pay for some of the poor play out from the back today. Bristol's chances came from us giving them the ball not from them creating anything.

McLouglin and Jacob have both been the talk of being poor today on here.

Slater is the one not getting any flak for being anonymous. At least those 2 tried to influence the game, Slater like so many times in the past just let the game pass him by

Will Jacob be our version of Marcus Rashford with fans and pundits still referring to him as a ‘young kid’ even when he’s 26-years-old?

Bristol C are nearly fully strength if not full strength. We are in complete transition, I thought we were in for a 3/4-0 loss today. We defended very well when called upon

I take no pleasure in calling out Jacob, it's not his fault he's getting picked or that he's not quite at the level of the other players, but he's 23, he's not a young kid and throughout pre-season, and into today's game he is sadly looking to be out of his depth and it'll do no one any favours long term if he continues to be picked. I actually think that as an academy grad he's had less of a hard time than if he'd been brought in from elsewhere, and we are all desperate for him to make the step up and become the next one to make it through the ranks. It doesn't help that we've got a 4m quid left back playing left wing getting hooked before him, who attitude of not is certainly a more technically competent player than him.

Jacob, McLoughlin and Slater were all quite poor today. Jacob is receiving criticism in particular because it isn’t just one bad game. He looks so far below this level and looked out of his depth all pre-season against opponents of varying quality. I’m not saying this to be mean but if he didn’t get a new contract under Rosenior, he’d be playing for a National League team right now. Nobody’s questioning his attitude or professionalism but his ability just isn’t up to snuff and that’s the harsh reality of it.

Think about it though. Jacob probably wont start against Plymouth. Giles LB and Millar LW it has to be. But, Jacob I'd the back up and will be called upon. It do him any good if his name is on the team sheet and people groan audibly and type discouragement on social media
There's no point and no need for it.

Learning his trade? Did you watch 19 year old Rico Lewis today? Agree McGloughlin was poor. Not singling out Jacob, just pointing out that 23 is not a young lad.

No one is blaming him ffs. He’s just coached them in a risk averse way especially in the defensive third. Walter wants more tempo, he’s trying to change that but clearly old habits crept in today particularly in the first half.

I see Walter has bemoaned the backwards passing today. That’s all well and good but its your tactics Tim.

If a player looks up and theres no one to pass to, and they know they’re not meant to go direct, they’ll pass backwards.

We went direct a number of times today, if the back line moved the ball quicker then players would be available.

I must have missed other Rosenier comments that where anywhere near as base as; equating him with the morals of John Terry.

Am I the only one of the opinion that Jacob is actually a better LB than Giles?

I don’t think either are good enough for what we need though and believe this is one of the areas we need to strengthen.

Jacob has not been playing well so far, and seems unsuited to Walter's way of playing and devoid of confidence, but I am wondering if I'm dreaming when I remember him playing well last season and keeping Giles out of the side. I know the 'he's a National League player' dickwad thinks he's irredeemable, but surely not everyone thinks that.
