    Jacobs a professional footballer
Not a fan winning a raffle

Making some blocks as a defender is part of the role

Will we start praising every single pass soon?

He was okay for the most part today, really poor in possession though. He has really poor technique for passing, no faulting his commitment though. Need much better moving forward

Jacob is the new Buckley it seems reading this forum. I'm guessing that comment goes above the heads of half the people here if not more. Never been a fan of getting on the backs of our own players, Jacob is adapting to Walters tactics sand gelling in with new teammates. It's going to be harder for him as this is his first full season as a Pro even if he is 23. He nearly scored today too. I thought the goal would not have been given if the officials had seen he got a smash in the face. I got bored with people slating Allsopp last season, it's a bit pathetic they are onto Jacob now. Good point I thought today given a shambolic pre season and the fact we are waiting for about 4 new players coming in .

    Overall analysis:

Game of two halves. We were dire first half. As bad as any half I saw last season.

Second half - played with much more courage. Not much changed in playing out from the back though, and it was ultimately why we conceded.

The subs made a difference. It’s amazing what happens when you bring attacking players on!

Pandur did well. I wish he’d stop playing hospital passes but I imagine that’s what he’s told to do.

As mentioned at the end of the first half, some players seem far from good enough for a top 6 chasing team - my opinion hasn’t changed.

I think they’re made to look like hospital passes by those receiving it more than the pass itself…

McLoughlin tries to do too much in this system. People were debating who adapted better to Walter’s tactics out of McLoughlin and Jones but I do think it’s Jones. Jones is also a much better defender, in my opinion. Jones is decent on the ball but also knows his limitations. McLoughlin has adapted to the system as well but overdoes it. There was a moment in the first half when he had three Bristol City players on him and he tried to dribble his way out.

Maybe. I don’t agree with the short pass out from a goalkeeper though and I have never been convinced otherwise!

what is the advantage in playing a goal kick to a player a few years from the goal line?

You remain in control of what’s going on. Outside of the first half we stopped playing short as much until we got control of the game again. We conceded when McLoughlin tried to go long

Honestly I'm not a fan of making Jacob the early boo boy. First game of the season and already we want to pile on a young lad. Joke tbh especially when we didn't encourage the lads much at all today. Never been in West Upper before and heard the players on the pitch. We can't say anything. 1st game of the season and we wasn't up for it as a crowd? Why did we turn up in our thousands? Terrible atmosphere. Yes I will pile on us because, I disagree piling on a young lad.

He isn’t a young lad, he is 23. I disagree with singling out a player but 23 is not a young lad.

the reality is that the players panicked when closed down and eventually they kicked the ball into touch or aimlessly upfield
why not pass to players 30 yards out and move forwards while knowing we have players behind if the ball is lost??
losing the ball a few yards from goal can easily result in conceding a goal

Why do people talk like he’s 18 or 19? He’s older than Drameh. I swear people think he’s a lot younger than he actually is because he hasn’t played much senior football. There’s a reason for that.
