Bayern noticeably stronger in the tackle and more accurate with their passing

Bayern are a really good side, but no better than the top 2/3 teams in the premier league. You would hope at home, a week before the season starts, we would be putting in a more competitive performance, but they have been so much better it’s really concerning.

    Not on the manager (unless ... < see above > ) .

Been watching this intently all half, and the Spurs players
have not been showing nominal nous on the Munich press
(not moving backwards fast enough and in sufficient
numbers to allow a decent out pass from the GK) .

Vicario with 2 mistakes in pre seasons leading to goals.

He worries me and has weaknesses with his game in all areas except shot stopping.

The app I use is suggesting Son was replaced by Austin. Tell me that ain't so.

Missed the 2nd half, but watching the first, Vicario just refuses to kick long, even when a safe short pass is just not on. I cannot believe that Ange would mandate that. There has to be judgement call for every situation.

I’m not sure if its down the Ange insisting on playing out or the player not wanting to go long but defensively overall I’m worried especially at set pieces.

Just got home after a curry with the fam.

Anyone able to fill in as to what was good/ bad/ ugly?

Just saw on Twitter that Harry refused to lift the trophy for Bayern as he ended the game as captain, such a class act. Seriously hope he wins everything with them this season.

Also nice touch from the club to honour both him and Dier with those gifts.

We definitely need to find a way to negate tactical fouls

While we won't have to endure too many refs as useless as the ones from the two Bayern games throughout the season, we're going to play a minimum of six games this season against teams using those tactics and we found ourselves undone by them irritatingly often last season

Pre season games done yet the proper back four didn’t get any game time together to work on defensive stuff. I’m worried

Agreed. There appears to be some serious assuming going on here that the 'first choice' back 4 (Porro/Romero/VdV/Udogie) will just naturally just slot back in together on past experience. Hope that's the case! <yikes>

Right sod you all, I went to FullReplays and watched the game myself <laugh>.

The game itself had similarities to the one in Korea - Bayern are clearly better but defensively we made it easy for them.

In terms of pre-season as a whole, I think there's definitely been some winners and losers.

    Winners:
    Kulu - player of pre-season.
Bergvall - potential superstar, could easily start vs Leicester.
Spence - won't dislodge the excellent Porro but will be far better competition than predecessor.
Lankshear - surpassed Veliz and Scarlett, might still be better to loan out though.
    Moore - surpassed Solomon.
Gray - not as ready as Bergvall to be a starter just yet but huge talent nonetheless.
Solanke - by default as will be guaranteed to start (if fit?) vs Leicester.

    Losers:
    Maddison - outshone by Bergvall.
Sarr - completely anonymous all pre-season after a poor second half of last season.
Solomon - surpassed by Moore, could be sold/ loaned.
Johnson - almost as anonymous as Sarr, amazed if he starts vs Leicester.
Vicario - was **** last pre-season too so not massively concerned.
Ange - not worked on defensive shape, not been backed enough in market.

    You missed out Bissouma...<laugh>
I only saw the first 30 mins and thought he looked decent. Even commented that he looked more like the player we thought we'd bought. But I'm guessing he (and Sarr) didn't do a great job protecting the makeshift back 4?

Ha, I only mentioned those who I think have either done their chances good or bad in terms of how the season might pan out early on for them, it's why I also left guys like Son and Porro out as they played well in pre-season and naturally won't be in any danger of losing their spots. Bissouma had a mixed pre-season for me, some moments of brilliance and other moments where he slacked off. Think he starts vs Leicester and most of the early games at the base of the midfield, then we'll see from there.

plus that was a suicidal pass from Vicario who’s been playing for over a year in that manner therefore should have made a better judgement in passing the ball to the CB who regardless of who it was had his back against the play so may not have known the dangers behind him, was all in full view of Vicario

that ball required a hoof up the pitch

I still don’t think the team is set up right.

Quite predictable attacking wise and far too open at the back.

Keep hearing how Ange’s teams in the second season always kick on, I’m still convinced Spurs peaked under him in the first 10 league games last year.
