The waiting is almost over – Pompey are about to embark on their first Championship campaign since 2012. It is a daunting reintroduction to life in English football’s second tier, however, with a trip to promotion favourites Leeds on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off). John Mousinho’s men will be hoping to build on the form that saw them romp to the League One title last term. Their first opponents saw the previous season end on a more sour note after finishing third in the standings. A 4-0 aggregate victory over Norwich booked a spot in the play-off final, but the Whites were narrowly beaten by Southampton at Wembley. They warmed-up for the season with a 2-1 win over Spanish giants Valencia last weekend, which followed on from successes against Harrogate, Hannover and Schalke. This will be the first time the sides have faced off since both were in the Championship during the 2011/12 campaign. It was goalless at Fratton Park in February, with Leeds securing a 1-0 win at Elland Road a few months earlier. please log in to view this image TEAM NEWS Jacob Farrell (ankle), Tom McIntyre (hamstring) and Josh Murphy (ankle) are all doubts for this weekend. Regan Poole (knee) has not yet returned to full training, while Colby Bishop has recently undergone heart surgery. Matt Ritchie could make his second debut for the club after completing his Fratton return earlier in the week. Fellow summer signings Jordan Archer, Andre Dozzell, Elias Sørensen and Jordan Williams are all expected to make the trip north. Leeds have no fitness concerns, but will have to do without Crysencio Summerville following his big-money move to West Ham. please log in to view this image VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM Read the thoughts of John Mousinho ahead of Pompey’s opening Championship fixture. please log in to view this image HEAD TO HEAD Overall Pompey: 18 wins Leeds: 23 wins 17 draws At Elland Road Pompey: 5 wins Leeds: 17 wins 6 draws Last Meeting Pompey 0 Leeds 0 Championship February 25 2012 please log in to view this image TICKETS Pompey have sold their full allocation for this game, so please do not travel if you do not already have a ticket. Things that have happened since the last time we played a championship league game. The London Olympics The Queen's platinum jubilee The death of the queen and accession of Charles III 4 prime ministers Two US presidents Covid-19 Brexit Russia annexed Crimea The war in Ukraine The rise and fall of IS England getting to the finals of the Euros (twice) and the semi finals of the world cup, after getting knocked out of the Euros by Iceland England women winning the Euros. Portsmouth women winning the WPL south twice. So basically it's been a while lol. Hopefully we can start with a win... Or a draw would be nice.

Apparently, Kusini Yengi has a groin strain, so misses the match. Fingers crossed that new boy Elias Sorensen has a good game

Watching on a dodgy stream in ... Spanish maybe? Can't actually tell It's gonna be a long afternoon, been all Leeds so far. 1-0 down from a penalty .
Nice equaliser from a good finish by our new signing Sorenson. Was a good pass to put him in position.
Half Time, and incredibly Pompey are 1-2 up at Leeds! As Lapras has said, it was all Leeds to begin with, hitting the bar three times before going 1-0 up with a penalty in the 10th minute following a clumsy challenge in the box by Conor Ogilvie. We gradually came into the match with a lovely goal from new boy Elias Sorensen from an equally brilliant pass by Marlon Pack in the 23rd minute. We then took the lead in the 41st minute with an incredible shot from outside the area by Callum Lang. Three players booked in the first half - Andre Dozzell and Sammy Silvera for Pompey, and Joe Rodon for Leeds. Should be a good second half, hope we can keep the lead......
Gnonto equalises in the 46th minute! Pompey have replaced Sammy Silvera with Terry Devlin at half time.
We scored a penalty in the 91st minute to take the lead. Just a few minutes left... HOLD THE LINE, BOYS!
3-3 final score. What a game! Christian Saydee won us a penalty in the 90th minute following Jayden Bogle trying to throttle him just inside the box! Callum Lang stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way, to put us 2-3 ahead. Brenden Aaronson equalised in the 95th minute, and then missed an easy chance to win the game for Leeds. A point from this tricky match is excellent for us. There's no doubt about it, Leeds are a very good side indeed.
On the one hand it's disappointing to concede an equaliser once you've taken the lead in stoppage time. On the other hand, if you'd offered to shake on a draw before the game, I'd have ripped your hand off!
