yea, hes just not a natural winger at all, not his position night and day between him and millar so its confusing
Dont think we saw much of Walter Ball. Players especially in the back four and to a large extent the midfield dont have the skills to play it. Thought Omur was really quiet-missing his buddy Tufan? Citys play reminded me at times of the scatter brain stuff we got when Shota was in charge. Think we and Acun are going to have a long wait for the exciting attacking football that we saw against Ipswich that Acun wants. Thought Oscar played poorly he is defintley not a target man. When he lined up the penalty I was fearing the worst but to give hin his credit he dispatched it with aplomb-well done Oscar. jarvis created some stuff but looks disinterested probably as someone said that just the way he plays. Still puzzles me why we paid 4 M for Giles. Or gave a new contract to Jacob.
Just watching city and united. Both teams have had very panicky moments at the back. Evans ran into trouble and had to conceded a corner. People just don't seem to grasp that even the very best have a tough time playing this style of football but if you want to limit the times you cough up possession playing out is the only way to do it. I've said it on an earlier post, you punt a goal kick long It's a 50/50. You cross the ball into the box It's a 50/50 at best, probably not even that given the defenders are usually taller and momentum is in their favour to attack the ball. Most teams look for this possession football now, especially at home, to be able to control the tempo and create more. The press is a natural counter and to be able to beat that press you need to take risks. The keeper needs to take chances. The full backs will need to give it straight back. Centre backs might have to move into midfield. These people in our fan base just don't seem to be able to get their head around it.
If Millar only arrived Thursday then it was the right call to leave him on the bench. I'm hoping we will now see Giles to left back and Millar start on the left. That's if Giles is staying
I'm guessing Jacob will be the boo boy. It's a shame for him. There's definitely a player there he's just struggling to find his feet. For me he doesn't get enough protection from the more experienced cb's. Imo McGloughlin was just as poor. I was impressed with Pandur today though his quick reactions made Bristol panic quite alot when they came forward. And he saved us quite a lot when they cut open our defence. Very good with claiming corners and crosses too. I still think Racioppi will probably be the main keeper though. Millar was immense when he came on as was Jarvis. I really like both of them. Excited to see more of them through the season. Jarvis really has developed since he was here.
Nothing like a bit of last minute drama, (and I don’t mean Cody) to lift the footy spirit! I thought overall a good flowing entertaining game, bit messy in parts, but was happy with a point before kick off, giving time for Tim, his style & new recruits to embed. Thought we worked hard for the point until the 80th odd minute disaster, gutted, but obviously elated with the late pen & Oscar’s conversion. Good to see Tim’s enthusiasm to get them forward thinking, instead of passing back, a hard habit to break. He was going berserk on sidelines! Big improvement in play with subs, very impressed with Millar, and Jarvis, natural width driving forward, didn’t get the taking off of Giles, thought Jacobs would/should have been hooked. Have to say, Pandur was like having a new keeper, despite immense pressure he must have had hanging over him, he was very game, quick & assured from his area. No Seri, assuming that is him gone? Thought Mehlem had a good game, also Simons looking like a good player now he’s bulked up a bit. Overall, happy with the point, feeling more optimistic now, onwards & upwards. UTT. Ps. should add, just relieved the giants of Bristol were **** in front of goal, otherwise obviously wouldn’t be so content!
Pandur was entertaining today. Dived and leapt at everything. No nonsense on loose balls. With a run of games, can see him becoming a bit of a favourite.
