The start of a new Championship season is always met with a mix of anticipation and anxiety, as clubs vie for a strong beginning to what is inevitably a gruelling campaign. This Saturday, Millwall and Watford are set to face off at The Den, each looking to shake off the shadows of a disappointing last season and build towards a more promising future.

Neil Harris returned for a second spell in the manager's chair, and hauled the club away from the relegation zone that they had been flirting with, to finish in 13th place.

The managerial upheaval that saw Tom Cleverly take charge in March brought some measure of improvement. However, the damage had already been done, and Cleverly's influence, though positive, was insufficient to significantly alter the team's trajectory. Watford's inconsistency, particularly in away matches, was a major factor in their underwhelming campaign.

Millwall have come out on top in recent meetings, but neither side usually manages a clean sheet. Maybe someone in Watford colours will find their shooting boots!

    The Hive is no more.
The new rights agreement between the EFL and Sky Sports means that while audio commentary from Watford’s matches will continue to be available to domestic supporters, only those with an international IP address will be able to watch live video coverage on iFollow.

Hopefully as all matches are being televised there will be a stream somewhere for us stream hunters to find.

The first bit of team news.

Despite not having featured in pre-season, young striker Mamadou Doumbia is in the squad for tomorrow’s game at Millwall.
Wes Hoedt definitely misses the season-opener at The Den but Cleverley said he was “hopeful” the Dutchman would play before the first international break at the start of September.

Shocking pass by TDB puts Sierralta under pressure - conceded a free kick

As good as Sissoko is playing, Kayembe is making up for it with a poor display so far.
