I share the same concerns, mate. On one hand, having Solanke and Richarlison is actually good for us in terms of senior depth and that will now allow us to send Lankshear and/ or Scarlett out on loans to further aid their developments but on the flip side, whilst we knew replacing Kane was essentially an impossible and thankless task, having two strikers that will likely cost us north of £120m between them, I’d say neither are even fit to lace the boots of the likes of Defoe, Keane and Berbatov, let alone anywhere near Harry. I can only hope Solanke proves me massively wrong and he now begins to realise his early hype when he was a young player, I’d love for him to do so, just as Vicario did when I initially had huge concerns over him. But so far it still feels like we’ve made little to no improvement of our first XI and considering Ange has given plenty of speeches over being here to win things, it feels like the club’s actions aren’t meeting his big words and aims.
60m odd appears to be the current PL market rate for mediocre incumbent PL strikers. So that is the price Spurs will have to pay for Solanke. Those that believe that the above is a market over-evaluation for the likes of him and Richarlison, are at liberty to state how much the over-evaluation is, and why (otherwise there is nothing more to say) .
The saddest part is that we were chief contributors to that inflation when we signed Richarlison. Every Average Joe is now 'worth' enough to break most clubs' records.
Paul O'Keefe says the deal is £57m, with £30m up front plus £3m in add-ons. Really is bonkers what one good season in the Premier League can get you now. Please, please, please "do a Vicario" and put my doubts to shame.
Huge waste of my money imo. Like Richarlison he’s bang average and his numbers throughout his career are pretty awful. I don’t see how he’s worth half of the quoted £60million yet alone the actual amount.
So 30m, then 7m odd at the end of the next 4 seasons. I wonder what the T+Cs are for Richarlison (I assume Everton tried for a big upfront sum given their financial predicament) . "Please, please, please "do a Vicario" and put my doubts to shame." Have no shame. If Solanke is mediocre, Spurs would have paid no more for that than any other PL club would.
Do the "numbers" suggest they are worth 30m max (I assume this forms some basis in your above comment) ??
Bournemouth are entitled to get the most they can for a player who ticks a few boxes. Homegrown (always adds to the value), had a very good season last year, and under contract a for more than 1 more season. I would also ask who is better, available and wants to join us? There would be a huge uproar if we had gone into the season without adding a striker who at least has some sort of premier league pedigree, and Solanke has that and the manager has made it clear that he is sort of player he wanted. I like you am not sure that he is definite article, but he deserves our support once the deal is done and you never know if he can the ground running with a goal early on we can hope that will allow him to kick on. Hopefully he also sees this as a last chance to really prove he is the player this his early promise suggested he could be, we might just the be the club that finally brings the best out in him, we will create chances and if he takes his share of them he could be the missing part of the jigsaw. Yes I know that there is a lot of ifs, but and maybes, some true blue sky thinking on my part, but once a year before the season starts I like to be positive Feel free to remind of this when he is still waiting for his first goal at Xmas
I don’t blame Bournemouth at all for wanting big money for him, his goals last season (only last season though) were vital to them. I just think Spurs will be overpaying for a guy who hasnt nearly scored enough goals in his career. Take all the data and YouTube videos you want, he is bang average. There must be better options there
Romano says documents now being exchanged for Emerson. After Winks, Doherty and Sanchez, he’s now actually the last person whom whenever they touched the ball I was close to stabbing forks in my eyes. I mean Werner’s a laughing stock who couldn’t finish a sentence but he at least looks like he kicked a ball as a kid. I can now watch most players at the club and not be mad at seeing them trying to kick a football.
Championship doesn’t really count though. In the PL, his record is below par. Ange obviously sees something in him and will pay the price of Solanke flops.
