V V Well first game of the season takes us up to Hull for a 12:30pm kick off- Don't think anybody can get a vibe after one game- but with new signings up front and midfield it is going to be a case off wait and see- LM has got the players he wanted and hopefully playing his way then we need to get off to a good start. We have been very weak up front which was our Achilles heal last season and he has addressed this with three signings in Fally Mayulu (CF | £3m from Rapid Vienna) Yu Hirakawa (RW | loan from Machida Zelvia) Sinclair Armstrong (CF | £2m from Queens Park Rangers) The two foreign signing we don't know how good they are or will they be able to handle the championship-However I'm excited about Sinclair Armstrong from QPR who has pace-strength-height something we defiantly missed last season. Max Bird is going to be a great success in the middle who we signed from Derby last season-sadly part of the deal was a loan back for last season. But now a key midfielder for us. I just hope he can fill the Matty James role as it is a big hole to fill. We had the 4th best defence last season and with Rob Atkinson hopefully over his injuries will be like a new signing. If the new forwards click then we are in for a exciting season -if not then LM will be under immense pressure as these are his signings. tomorrows score Hull City 1- Bristol City 2
I reckon LM will go with : O'leary Vyner, Dickie, Roberts Tanner, Bird, Knight, Pring Armstrong, Maylu, Mehmeti. I think Williams is injured so I'd like to think Naismith with his Championship experience would be involved. Unless he's had a Lazarus moment this summer, I wouldn't pick Mehmeti. However he's needed tomorrow for balance unless LM goes with Sykes for the same reason.
I think this seems the likely line-up given player availability. Whether it's that formation remains to be seen. A point would be a good result up there on the opening day tbh.
True, but let’s not forget that they let their manager go at the end of last season, so it’s a new approach from them. Hoping that takes time to gel….
Not long now, Sky all prepared and waiting to go. COYR Just noticed the blue few are on later, if anyone fancies a laugh
Bristol City expected team vs Hull City: Liam Manning has big decisions in midfield and attack Bristol City make the journey to Humberside to take on a much-changed Hull City+ https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-team-hull-manning-9472891 Bristol City (4-2-3-1): Max O’Leary; George Tanner, Zak Vyner, Rob Dickie, Cam Pring; Joe Williams, Max Bird; Anis Mehmeti, Jason Knight, Sam Bell; Sinclair Armstrong
Replacing a Manager going into the first game of a new season can work for or against you The best prepared team that take their chances will likely come out on top today
stupidly a few months ago I agreed to go with my brothers and dad to watch a Hours pre-season game, not knowing it was the first day. So will miss the game
First game of the season is always a bit of a lottery. We’ve a fairly settled side, apart from forwards, so should go in our favour. Attack bothers me tbh, going to struggle to score. ( watch now we’ll hammer in 4 ) .
So glad the season’s started again! I’d take a draw from this game. A defeat would be annoying but as has been said the first couple of games are a bit of a lottery as teams ‘bed in’.
For a good few seasons (going back a few years admittedly) we were invincible on opening day for year after year Did it maybe end with Coppouts first game, a 3-0 home defeat to Millwall ?
I can’t remember the last time we got 4 - was it vs Watford last season? I think we did it again after that but can’t remember who against. My poor ancient brain…….
with all this new media presentation sky/bbc it is not so good get early news ... of players etc 1220 and BEEB have nothing!
