Good Morning. It's Thursday 8th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds told they must splash the cash to land Ljubicic Leeds Utd have been told they must splash the cash if they want to sign Köln midfielder Dejan Ljubičić. The versatile 26yo is highly thought of by Die Geißböcke (the Billy Goats), and prepared to see him move next Summer for nothing, rather than accept £3.4m. Technical Director Grétar Steinsson flew out to Germany two weeks ago to meet with his German counterparts to try and strike a deal - fourteen days later, we're no further ahead! please log in to view this image Do Leeds have sufficient funds to complete Farke's shopping list? Leeds are still three players shy, 48 hours ahead of their season opener against Portsmouth! They've identified replacements for Summerville and Kamara, but negotiations are proving difficult! They also need competition/cover at left-back, which may not be so much of a problem as Max Wober or Sam Byram could fill the void, should anything happen to Junior Firpo! What the ER board needs to understand is, that just because a player has 12 months left on his contract, it doesn't mean you have to lie down and get trampled over, and herein lies the problem! In the Championship money is tight, and the rules concerning FFP are stringent - with the majority of clubs outside the top flight penny-pinching on every deal. The monetary amounts accepted for players such as Roca, Llorente, Cresswell and Summerville have been likened by many as 'closing down sale prices'. Now the club doesn't have sufficient funds to complete Daniel Farke's shopping list! please log in to view this image
As we saw last season the relegated sides are usually strong contenders for promotion. This won’t be easy.
Farke Press Conference: “Max was a bit careful to be too loud within the group, wants to adapt, especially in the German training camp. We sit together after the first three weeks of training and he said straight away, knocked on my office, he said ‘boss sorry am I allowed to come in, I’m 100 per cent convinced, I want to be here.’ “The same with Brenden, one good training session or game is not everything to win back supporters but he has my backing, he has been good in training, they will need a few weeks until they are back to 100 per cent. “I get the feeling they can play a really important part. He is really desperate to prove his worth. Let’s not celebrate it too much, the actions are more important than the words.”
Agree, as the gaffer says actions speak louder. If he’s here after the transfer window he’s a top CB at this level. Can see it being Rodon and Wober if he stays. Needs to play well and he’ll win the crowd over.
Was even happy to take the captaincy on pre season and then ****ed off to Germany. please log in to view this image
