For Andre Villa- Boas it is just like working into a land-mine.This time of the season it is unlike Chelsea not to be in the top two or three in the table. The young manager can still turn things around, but very little time. For the first time Roman Abramovich has been patience, who knows when his patience is going to run out.The following fixtures can determine that. Barclays Premier League Newcastle v Chelse Tuesday, 6 December 2011 Uefa Champions League Chelsea v Valencia, GpE Monday, 12 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Chelsea v Man City Saturday, 17 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Wigan v Chelsea Thursday, 22 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Tottenham v Chelsea Monday, 26 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Chelsea v Fulham Saturday, 31 December 2011 Barclays Premier League Chelsea v Aston Villa Other managers are most likely in relegation battle. 1.Steve Keane 2.Steve Bruce 3.Owen Coyle 4.Roberto Martinez 5.Mick Mccarthy 6.Martin Jol
I reckon if Chelsea lose to Valencia, the Citeh game'll be Vilas-Boas' last game in charge is they don't smash 3 past Hart. Hiddink is loitering in the background like an unwelcome spectre at the feast and Roman has chased the guy across the globe making eyes at him since before the Special One left Stamford Bridge. Other than Andre, I think Steve Keen is on his last legs, and the defeat to lower league opposition will probably be the last straw for the Chicken-pluckers. I reckon Coyle and Martinez are pretty safe, McCarthy is doing well enough and Jol has just led Fulham through a really difficult set of fixtures (Arsenal, Spuds and a European tie) but equally had dropped points in winnable matches. I think he'll be safe enough at the moment.
The thing is, they are so naive and stupid when it comes to football I don't think they realise what a mess they're in. Didn't they give Kean a new contract just recently? I fear for Blackburn because I think he will be their manager for an even more prolonged amount of time than it already is.
Steve Bruce. I think he'll be gone in the next couple of weeks... Brought about 10 players in the summer and I think they are only 2 points off the bottom three.
I think Bruce will go first. AVB will get a transfer window to sort things out, I think. Blackburn's owners have tried to do everything on the cheap since buying the club and claiming they will spend their vast riches on making Blackburn a CL team() and I can't see them rushing to sack him and pay compensation for a new manager.
Steve Bruce would be my first choice for a bet, AB I think will last until Jan. It really depends on their December though as stated by the OP...It's very tough and they are the only team in the top 7 to get a point off another top 7 side.
I think it would be stupid to sack Villa Boas or Bruce atm. Managers need time. Remember it took Fergie 6 years to have any success at United. Managers need time. Managers get taken for granted, and that is wrong. If Abramovich sacks Villa Boas then he will prove how terrible an owner he is and how little morales he has. Chelsea need a long term plan. Villa Boas can give that. He has had immense success for his age, and his signings have done very well, he just needs more time to refresh the Chelsea side. It could take a couple of years, but if he is not allowed those years then Chelsea will just stay stuck in this spiral. As for Bruce, he is just going through a bad patch. He has done very well in the past, and can do so again.
I'm not convinced of that - AVB needs to win against Valencia otherwise he'll be the first manager since the 'Special-Needs one' to fail to do so. Add to that the probable failure to pick up points against Citeh and the in-form Spuds, and by Christmas they'll likely be out of the top 4. Even the first idea of not qualifying for the CL will provoke a sacking. Hiddink is out-of-work and available, he's Roman's favourite, and he's got a track record second-to-none. AVB has no record of building teams, and no real experience of dealing with the situation he finds himself in. Regardless of the logic of not sacking a manager inside of half a season, its plausible and history (Phil Scolari) suggests it'll happen...
I Think Steve Bruce will probably be the best bet for the first one to get the sack, it looks like he's lost the support of the fans and with the amount of players signed in the summer the buck really does stop with him. Although i do think Steve Kean should be the first one to go, the guy has got relegation written all over him. I sympathize with the rovers fans as it looks like their owners are set on keeping him (god knows why) it must be like an even worse version of when Roy Hodgson was our manager for them, knowing that the manager you've got isn't up to the job and just hoping that you'll finally here he's been sacked before he does anymore damage.
Just as a taster, the figures for Chelsea Managers under Roman are revealing: Ranieri - 199 games - win 53.76% notable records - Club record for best defence 2003-04, Club highest points total 2003-04, League runners-up 2003-04 Mourinho - 185 games - win 70.81% notable records - two league title wins, two league cups, FA Cup Grant - 54 games - win 66.67% notable records - league runners-up 2007-08; CL losing finalists 2007-08; League cup losing finalists 2007-08 Scolari - 36 games - win 55.56% notable records - 0-5 win at the Riverside; biggest away win for 5 years. Hiddink - 21 games - win 71.43% notable records - FA Cup winner 2009. Achieved without signing a single player. Ancelotti - 109 games - win 61.47% notable records - League and FA Cup double 2009-10 Vilas-Boas - 21 games - win 51.38% So, to recap, Scolari was sacked having had a better win record and having made £10.8mil in the transfer market (AVB has spent £47mil nett). Roman's itchy trigger finger's itching again...
I hope fat head Bruce get's sacked he spent a few bob in the summer and most of his signing's have been pish. They had Onuoha, and Wellbeck on loan last season and they also had Gyan up front. Onuoha was outstanding for them last year and I don't know why they never bought him, they chose to buy Wes Brown and John O Shea
Poor old Bruce! I actually don't mind him despite his past. They were let down by their last striker and didn't have much choice with Bent. If he can hang on till January and get a striker, then he may survive. I agree he is on his last legs atm. Need a few wins on the trot.
