for the first time since Nigel left. It's a match made in heaven I tells ya! I've never heard so many happy radio Leicester callers. Sure, most of them were pissed, but it's great to see a bit of positivity. I've been buzzing for this game since the weekend for some reason, I was encouraged by the performance and the feeling that under Sven, I think we would have lost at Fratton Park having gone 1-0 down. Tuesday night games always seem to start slowly on and off the pitch, and we rarely looked like scoring, only in patches did we put together some good moves. Apart from of course a fitting goal from Andy King (who was probably my MOTM) a good move and a well taken finish. Schmeichel saved us early on and once again was impressive throughout. In the second half we battered Blackpool who were poor, created a hatful of chances and could have won by more. I think all of our individual performances were good without being outstanding, but the team performance, especially in the second half, was very encouraging. We were calm in possession and though we still struggled with width, took advantage of the game being stretched. A word for Beckford as well - I thought he was muh improved, worked hard and looked dangerous. May have scored in the first half but tbf it came at him quickly and it was a good save. All in all I'm just pleased we got that play-off place monkey off our back. Tough game at Hull this weekend, they've got a game in hand so a win would be massive.
Still feel there is more to come...we did what we needed to do tonight, my only moan is mills long balls...why does he persist? try something else matt..
great news, i imagine we will stay there now. Autos? More down to Southampton than us now really, long season though. I never feel like we're going to lose under NP though, so lets make the KP a fortress!!
Getting in the top 2 will be very hard. I´m going for WHUFC 100%, I have a feeling SFC will start to drop after xmas, I also have a feeling LCFC will get better & better (here´s hoping) & we will finish top 6... & maybe even sneak a top 2... MAYBE. "COME ON LEICESTER, COME ON LEICESTER"
Good win last night and it's good to see us in the Top 6 for the first time since a certain Mr. Pearson was manager. Can't help thinking what a waste of 18 months. First half, I think we implemented our tactics well defensively in that we sat off them and gave them room to pass around centre-midfield but very rarely did they play a killer pass and it was more or less just long shots that we restricted them to. In fact, it reminded me of watching games for us under Sven. One defensive criticism i would have is that when Lua Lua dropped off the front or either Shelvey or Sylvestre came forward from midfield, one of the centre-mids didn't drop back to pick them up so they had a bit too much space in and around the edge of the area. But 2nd half we addressed this and it was (quite surprisingly) King who did this job well. However, first half, when we attacked, we didn't do it with much purpose. It looked to me like the tactics were to bypass midfield and play the ball over the top for the strikers to run onto but the balls over the top were of poor quality. Also, when we tried to pass it out, we struggled really and Blackpool pressed us high up the pitch so we were forced to look long again when maybe we didn't want to. 2nd half we were a different side though and we came out and played in their faces and pressed them more and they struggled to string three passes together. It also made it easier for us to break on them because we didn't have to play balls over the top and could play balls through to the likes of Dyer who was superb 2nd half. Beckford was unlucky not to score and he had a good game and the signs of improvement are definitely there. Danns impressed me when he came on and he looked more like the player I felt he was at Palace and it's good to have that quality to come on and influence the game. I heard his post-match interview and he spoke of the confidence NP gave him and it just demonstrates for me Nigel's man-management skills. MOTM for me would be Bamba because he swallowed everything that came his way and added real solidity to the defence. I was surprised that SSL was dropped actually but Bamba did very well and I think he'll benefit from NP's management. Something I noticed a few weeks back but NP seems a lot happier and relaxed than the last time he was here and you can see that he's delighted to be back (even laughing and joking with Stringer) and that seems to be transpiring onto the pitch and the players seem to play with a smile on their face too which wasn't the case under Sven.
I don't. Not at the moment, no-one is guaranteed to stay there atm, the tables far too tight. If Hull beat us, they (plus possibly others like Brighton) will go above us, and Birmingham i feel will be above us once they have cought up in games played.
Birmingham are definitely in a false position and Hull also have a game in hand, so we're not where we need to be yet! Saturday is huge for us.
We found it hard to break in the top 6 now we need to make a place our. If we go on a good run now and with Nigel able to buy players next month. The top 2 is still ours if we can carry on the consistency Nigel has brought back
