709 tickets sold for this one so far. A good early test - I think we should expect to take at least a point and hopefully all 3 if we want to get off to a flying start this season. Respect to those travelling up, as getting back won’t be easy due to the crazy kick off time.
Wigan have plenty of injuries to contend with so an opportunity has appeared for us to make a statement start. We’re playing Wigan,Bolton,Reading and Rotherham in our first 5 games so that’s tough. Also in there a home game against Orient and Brum in the cup so we need to take advantage of those injuries on Saturday. At least a point but looking for all 3 . possible line-up Arsenal keeper Mitchell, Jones, Gillesphey Ramsay, Coventry, Berry, Docherty, Small Ahadme and Godden
The team for Saturday won’t be that.Mannion will be in goal, Anderson instead of Berry, Edwards instead of Small and Campbell instead of Godden.
The way unrest is accelerating throughout the country I can see a lot of matches being postponed. The police being deployed elsewhere to attack the British.
Politics aside Elfs may have a point. 36 EFL games, hundreds of thousands of fans, many grounds in 'flashpoint' neighbourhoods. And emotions running high as they always do at football games, regardless of the other issues. If the EFL think this is going to be just a normal Saturday when it comes to policing football, I think they are mistaken. A decision should be taken on this, and ideally by Thursday. It is difficult to believe that those coordinating the riots would not wish to take advantage of the drain on Police numbers due to football fixtures during this coming weekend. A serious public safety situation requires strong, decisive leadership. Somebody needs look at the numbers, assess the risks and then make the tough call.
I don’t think any matches will be postponed due to the policing. I don’t see many police at League one matches anymore.
I think Varney posted on this and said the EFL (had to be careful there) were concerned that this rumour was going around and that all matches wouid go ahead.
There has been unrest in Preston, it that increases you can bet your life they'd be calling on neighboring plod.
Don’t worry, if there’s one thing the police in this country are good at , it’s getting a bit of overtime in. The game will 101% go ahead.
If Godden doesn't score at least18 league goals this season, I'll give £100 to the forum's chosen charity. (Does the forum have a chosen charity?) Give him the service and he will deliver the goods, even at his ripe old age.
Pay The British Heart Foundation now mate, you have been on the . He'll struggle to get that in all competitions.
The two that have 'replaced' Alfie will struggle to match last seasons tally together. These two don't do the business and we're floundering after 20 games may make behind the scenes interesting. The Covered End would certainly make their feelings known.
The front two both scored on Saturday but there wasn’t any goal threat from the rest of the team even though they played pretty well otherwise.
750 now sold for Saturday. Someone has a “plus one” for a well known Global Moderator I trust ? Wigan have been through plenty of change & turbulence themselves, so we really should be seeking a minimum of a draw here.
Beat them last season on their turf I think. A very rare away win. Or is my memory on the blink again?
We beat them 3-2 with two goals from a certain Alfie May and one for CBT. I have decided to go. I will be going by Coach.
