Yeah you’d hope he will progress as he gets older, I’m far from writing him off just want more consistency from him.

I was replying to CK's post in which he mentioned Skipp/Reguilon/Lo Celso/Solomon. But for reference I would rather keep Richarlison as a '2nd' choice.

If we signed Solanke for money + Richarlison I think I'd piss myself laughing.

Add in a European campaign with at least 8 more games plus it will be nearly impossible to do worse in the domestic cups and I’d argue it’s even less equipped.

It's better equipped, especially if we utilise the youngsters.

But we don't have the depth in quality to go far in multiple competitions.

The season has an 'exit cups no later than QF, Europe in early KO round and scrape 5th in the league' written all over it.

Aside from the fact that they've cheated for 3 years and gotten away with it, I'm not sure what they'd be laughing about.

They are very, very close to us in quality as last season showed. We have the edge on them in defence but only by a very fine margin. They had better CM options than us, tbc if losing Luiz will affect that. And up front I'd say they have a very slight edge over us, but only because Watkins is at his absolute peak right now whereas Son's is finished.

Add to this a vastly more experienced manager with years of juggling (and winning) multiple competitions, and it's no surprise they did better than us last season.

My concern is that on paper, not only are we still not much better than Villa, we're still miles away from the teams above them.

Better equipped because the likes of Vic, Micky and Udogie have PL experience now? That’s the only way I can see an advantage to last season.

Spurs only had 41 games last season. This year it’s a minimum of 48, I still feel the squad is 4-5 quality players short. Signing the likes of Solanke and Neto who are no better than Richarlison and Brennan Johnson isn’t the answer.

Yeah I think we need a solid 4. 5 is obviously great but I think 4 good/ great signings could do wonders for us.

I have doubts over Solanke but I’m as certain as I could possibly be that Neto would be an unreal signing if he avoided injuries. The fact City are now rumoured to be snooping around him as a Alvarez replacement though means if we want him we’ll have to act fast, if we get in a battle with City for a player it’s game over.

Compared to many of our signings Richarlison and Johnson were relatively successful , double figures goals/assists for both last season.

Who are these better players than people like Solanke and Neto who want to come to Spurs? Don't get me wrong I am not excited by either of them particularly but I look around and I don't see players banging down the door to join us. Adding those two players who are of a similar standard to players we already have does give us a better chance of maintaining our league position with the additional fixtures and I think we have to hope that a couple of the youngsters really kick on as the season progresses.

Seeing reports of us already backing away from Solankes release clause and offering makeweights in players suggests we are not serious about him anyway.

It's worth noting that I've seen people believe that sending Richy to the Oilfields means we sign Solanke and David

For me, seeing that Eze is looking more and more likely to be waiting to sit on the Mansourites bench for a few years, I'm wondering if we're reallocating our funds

As mentioned before, remove Ricky’s price tag and you can appreciate what he brings to the team/squad

He’s got more desire in his little toe than many other players at the club, for a start. He ups the tempo of any game, I like that in a player.

Not bad at all for a £25 mill signing

    bargain

Ben Jacobs reckons Emerson is now no longer a priority for Milan...

    For **** sake.

Seriously hope he's wrong. Should've ran with the money when they offered €8m, let alone the supposed €15m. Saudis offered €20m back in Jan!

It would be such a typical Spurs move if we signed Solanke for cash + Richarlison.

Bit like going into a dealership and massively overspending on a basic Ford Mondeo. Gets you from A to B but never doing more than that. Breaks down frequently. Bit temperamental.

Then two years later, you go back to the dealership and ask if you can give them cash + part exchange for exactly the same model Mondeo, except it has one of those lemon-fresh trees hanging at the front and a 'UK' sticker on the bumper.
