The first cases will be minor offences in five minute appearances before a magistrate and most likely a guilty plea. Even so, as you say, two months prison can have a lasting effect. For feckless wasters it's less of an issue but still prison and it's expensive keeping them in. They'll need to vacate their cells for when the Crown Court starts handing out years, not months. Which they will.
Sunderland BID must have had some serious info. Everything closing now. Empire even sacked their 14.30 showing due to intelligence. Doesn't sound like it's going to be a quiet one unfortunately.
What a disgrace. Didn’t even realise there was more rioting planned and I’ve just read there that the news have been informed of approx 100 riots planned for later, 70 more than expected. If this continues into next weekend wonder what the crack will be with the match, can’t see the police being too happy about having to police both. Be hell on in the city centre.
Our company were informed yesterday of the potential for riots. I am hoping dispersal notices will be in play like Durham yesterday and Sunderland should have had on Friday. That way if they know the theatre and other large venues aren’t open then the people milling about could be looters.

I'm at work in Elswick, NE4. We've locked the doors and are currently sending non essential staff home. Can hear a police helicopter up now. I'm leaving for home in 20 minutes, and have been advised to head through Benwell and over Scotswood bridge rather than Cruddas park and over redheugh bridge.
There were 2 of them, smashed a police car up. One got 2 months in jail one got a 12 month community sentence. S hitting themselves I’m sure.
This is Let's assume these people are genuine and truly believe they're fighting for a just cause. Perhaps they're so convinced of their position that they're prepared to go onto the streets and confront the police. The world has seen many 'freedom fighters' who've been prepared to risk imprisonment to stand up for what they believe. So why are these 'brave patriots' now sobbing in court and pleading for mercy The 'Just Stop Oil' people do what they believe is right, take the consequences and do their time with dignity. I'm sure these racist/fascist/thick rioters would mock Just Stop Oil and claim they don't have the right to disrupt people's lives because of their hippy wacky ideology. This is one of the first to be jailed along with his message to Keir Starmer, the government and his brothers in arms ... ... he'll be out in years when he's in his sixties "I was a fool, I'm absolutely ashamed of the way I have behaved. I have let Southport down, I have let the kids down, I have let my family down." What a f*cking coward.
I don't think so tbh ... ... I think it's plywood manufacturers deliberately stirring up concerns on social media. Seriously, the majority of football supporters are totally decent people and they've waited a long time for these matches. I don't think these lowlife rioters have the balls to try to disrupt games. People turned on Just Stop Oil because of the disruption they cause. But you may be right, we'll have to wait and see.
I’m in agreement don’t think it gets called off. There’ll be a large amount of the protestors who will be going to the football. As daft as it sounds. It lessens the crowds of people interested in going out to protest. I think they’ll be on
