Try reading the books. You'll find the current incarnation is the closest to Ian Fleming's profoundly flawed, sado-masochistic alchoholic anti hero. The whole point of Fleming's Bond is that he is often morally indistinguishable from the villains. In every novel he is redeemed (just about) by his courage and devotion to duty, but your never quite sure what he's capable of or what he might do. Daniel Craig portrays a Bond close to this original.

I turned it down and recommended they speak to Daniel. He's doing a great job so far.

but surely they are useful, and as I've quoted you it would be futile to retort with the antonym.

Here's my Bond shortlist (though i think Daniel Craig is very good as Bond)

    Daniel Craig
    Eric Bana (that aussie bloke)
    Hugh Jackman (another aussie bloke)
Dominic West (English Guy from The Wire)

Thats all i can think of for now. Roger Moore is the best Bond in my opinion.

New Bond is going to be ****, Daniel Craig is boring, the name sucks (Skyfall <doh>), the Bond girls are average, the new Q is a ****wit and they've kept that old bint Judi Dench as M.

The new Indiana Jones will be worse though <ok>

I like Craig, I think he's about as realistic as you can get. He is a bit deadpan, but he does play a trained killer.

I reckon Christian Bale could pull it off. He can be pretty smooth, has the physical presence and is a great actor.

Depends what you want from a bond

What I mean is that if he is the playboy then daniel craig is not as believable as say pierce brosnan
Yet pierce didnt look like a killer and craig does

I think tom hardy would make a good bond

Good call. Tom Hardy gives good psycho, which is what Bond should be - ie a charming cold blooded killer.

I would be a great James Bond - great with the ladies, courageous, great bod and incredibly handsome face.

Grant Holt, Brad Pitt or Darren Huckerby would be awesome too

Sorry but Bond would never wear flip flops, watch Twilight or Hollyoaks, publicise his 'love' for a bird he's only known 5 minutes on the internet etc.

Only joshing with you Holty, you're alright <ok>

Daniel Craig is an excellent Bond, as was Timothy Dalton. They are the only 2 anything like Flemings Bond (maybe Connery in From Russia With Love also)

I'll always have a soft spot for Roger Moore as he was Bond when I was a kid, but apart from For Your Eyes Only, his films were way too slapstick.

Lazenby was a poor Bond in a great Bond film, while Brosnan was the opposite - a good Bond given mainly crap films to work with.
