I note utd have immediately commented they are eager to do business to try stop the online fans losing their minds. I saw that slot hit all the right notes in the aftermath. Talked about the obvious issues in the performance and how it didn't actually matter as a result and such. I'd be happier with that than winning off utd. Most important is no injuries We will have to sort this midfield out. There's nothing but attackers in it and that will have tonchange
Know pre season means nothing. But with new manager and plenty squad players always good to get some confidence going into the season. Only seen few highlights here and there but sounds like can see a change in the way we’re playing - will take time to execute perfectly but good to see ideas already been put in place and a new style developing. Shame it’s been a disrupted pre season and still haven’t got all the players back but excited to see how Salah does with proper break behind him.
I've watched all of our US tour games, and I don't think too much can be gleaned from them. Even the starting 11s were a long way away from how we're likely to start the season, and the last part of each game was nothing more than a chance for Slot to see how promising some of the kids are. The only thing I can say is that -as predicted- the style isn't very different to the one we're used to. The tactical nuances will only be evident when we have something approaching our perceived strongest line-up.
He is pulling full backs in tight and passing out from the back with two ball playing cms at 6. Then they are trying to overlap centrally and make an overload somewhere with the full backs then providing width or under cut runs as they advance. We are really trying to create that 3 v2 and then deliver I do feel we need to look hard at LB as a result. Trent and bradley will do well at rb but we simply don't have the player at LB. Robbo is on the wane.
And against a team thats actually bothered to really close down and block. The state of carvalhos first goal ffs
Just watching the clips of Bajcetic against United. I know pre season and stuff but I think if he stays injury free, he ends the season as number 1 DM alongside Mac in that double pivot. His positioning is good and has just enough acceleration to nip in and win the ball in 50/50s. Passing and composure on the ball is excellent and reminds me a bit of thiago how he opens himself up when getting it from defence to allow him to progress up the field. If he stays fit, can bulk up a little bit, think media will be talking about him in way the talked about mainoo last year.
I think it goes without saying that I don't watch pre-season friendlies so this is certainly not based on recent events... ...I believed that for a long time. The lad is quality and my only concern was whether he'd fully recover from the injury. Although clearly lacking match fitness, he still managed to die his quality towards the end of last season. He can also play as I've of the B2B players imo but if prefer him in that deep play maker role.
Bajcetic is not ready. That is the body of a kid still and he just wont be ready for full time football quite yet, more patience is needed Give.him 10 games.and he will get up to speed with the game as he lacks that edge so far but I think we might break him doing it. Yes he's 2.years further along maturing compared to nyoni but he's still a kid.
I'm leaning towards this view. Plus you never really know how a player will recover from being out for as long as he has been. It took ages for Gomez to play anywhere near his pre-injury level
Im sure the medical experts are prob a bit more informed though and he’s already been involved in all the pre season games so I get the feeling they think that he is ready
Is it likely that Slot will have spoken to Klopp about how ready he feels players like Bajcetic, Gordon and Doak are for the first team? Obviously it's Slot's decision but seeing as Klopp has 'retired', it would benefit Slot to get all the information he can from a manager who saw a lot of these young players and wouldn't be inappropriate given that Klopp isn't currently managing.
Id be surprised if wasn’t a small chat but I doubt slot would want klopps opinion on players - just adds a level of bias and he probably wants to make his own opinion. As far as I’m aware, we haven’t changed any of the youth coaches at u21 level and academy director Alex inglethorpe is still there who will have far more info on those players
You only need look at the lad. He's not ready for heavy schedule of men's football. There's still filling out to do.
