Good Morning. It's Monday 5th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Summerville finer details leaked It has come to light that the Elland Road hierarchy insisted on a non disclosure agreement with West Ham to hide the details of the Crysencio Summerville deal from their fans. Unfortunately for them, these things have a habit of being leaked - this is what we know so far! Leeds only had to tell Cree about offers from clubs who had progressed past the first round of UEFA club competitions. This obviously dwindles down the competitions, meaning the ER could choose to just ignore more of the offers that came in! Contrary to public belief, he did not have a release clause in his terms, and could have left last Summer with rest of the deserters, but opted to stay, and fight for promotion. Leeds were prepared to accept £25m plus add-ons, as long as the (initial) full amount got paid in one go, but the Hammers wanted to split it over four installments. An agreement was reached at £26m (plus clauses and expenses), with half being paid now, and the other half on 1st July next year. The clauses are extensive. If Cree achieves what we think he can, the final sales figure could reach £35m. please log in to view this image Farke cautiously optimistic Bogle will return for season opener Daniel Farke is cautiously optimistic that Jayden Bogle will be fit to start Leeds Utd's season opener against Portsmouth on Saturday after his sides bruising encounter against Valencia at Elland Road over the weekend. The 24yo hobbled off on the hour mark after being clattered by Rafa Mir, who later got sent off for giving Junior Firpo flying lessons. It was a common reoccurrence of the second half as the Spanish side let frustrations get the best of them. Leeds are incredibly light of full-backs, a position that is so crucial to Farke's set-up, so the last thing they need just before the season opener is an injury to one of their key players. Fortunately, after initial concern, the injury turned out to be a dead leg, and should return to training Monday or Tuesday! According to Farke: “I was [initially] really concerned about Jayden, we are still a bit thin at full-back,” “It was a dead leg, not capable to stay on but it's normal after a few days it's gone. I'm not too concerned that he'll be not available for next week, I'm cautiously optimistic.” please log in to view this image Has Joseph leapfrogged Bamford in Pecking order Mateo Joseph was on target again for the Whites at the weekend as Leeds capped off their pre-season campaign with their fourth win in as may games against La Liga giants Valencia CF. He took his pre-season total to four goals, with Piroe and Rutter sharing two each, and Gruev, Firpo and Chambers all on one. His speed, energy and deadly precision in-front of goal has not gone unnoticed on social media, with many demanding that the 20yo hitman starts the season leading the line. Possibly standing in his way this season is Patrick Bamford, an undoubtedly much more experienced marksman, but an injury record to match. Over the past three seasons, the soon to be 31yo has netted just 14 league goals, spending the majority of the time in the physio suite at Thorp Arch. Even when fit, it's fair to say that his all round recent contributions are limited, and touches of the ball few and far between, compared to his team-mates, but just like recent Managers, Farke (up until now) see's Bamford as an automatic starter, when fit! It's not as if Joseph has suddenly become a World-beater over the past two and a bit months; he's always been a handful, yet was only handed 219 minutes of league football last season to make an impact, making him nothing more than an after thought. Perhaps, if he had been given a decent run out, we would have gone up last season? please log in to view this image
Summerville looked liked a little boy against the Palace defenders yesterday. Joseph has to start on Saturday, then it's up to Bamford to try and get his spot back, for all concerned it seems it would be better if Paddy moved on, but I remember saying that this time last season. But who would want him that could afford him
Morning all. Happy bank holiday. Jury is out on 49ers so far with me, still waiting to see them pull a few master strokes. There’s no way we have a squad big enough to get through a season. Subs bench poor on Saturday made up of youngsters and we ended up with three players playing who have made it abundantly clear they want away. We. Will suffer injuries during the season, all teams do, but you need some strength in depth to handle it. Our incomings over next three weeks will be vital to how the season progresses
Wonder when the shadow of Victor Orta will leave the club as there seems to be stench. Strange how Orta says he needed to convince players to come to Leeds so got creative yet FARKE says everyone wants to come to Leeds. Orta brought Summerville to the club as a 17yo for £1m a new contract given when he made the first team still on peanuts but a better contract given last season cannot have been Orta
Morning all Summerville at £25m £30m or £40m it makes no difference to our genuine targets, we’re not going to attract anyone around half those figures. We have to take it into context and look at the amount we were able to spend prior to promotion, that’s what the majority in this division are limited to spending Look at Hull, they sold three big name players and are struggling for replacements. WBA spend is around £650k and Sheff U just over £5m Burnley look the big spenders at £36m which I find staggering. I’ve mentioned before though, Wober and Aaronson are like new signings, add their values and we’d be up there with Burnley. Joseph has to start and if he continues preseason form we can expect an exciting season. We’re still looking to bring in a couple of signings but even as things stand now, we’ve got to be favourites
Subs Bench Poor - Are you just permanently on a downer mate: Piroe Bamford Wober Aaronson Rothwell Byram That’s an excellent bench
Wober and Aaronson don’t want to be with us. Bamford a permanent sick note. Byram will be available for half the games at best. Can’t comment on Rothwell as haven’t seen him play for us yet
Leeds are preparing to hijack Hugo Bueno's loan move to Scottish giants Celtic. The exciting 21yo left-back has attracted attention from a host of European clubs including Feyenoord after Wolves revealed that their starlet is available on a season long loan, without an option to make the deal permanent. Leeds need cover (and competition) for Junior Firpo, with many believing that out-of-favour AC Milan full back Fode Ballo-Toure would be on his way to ER, but for now at-least the Spanish U21 International tops Leeds shopping list! Hugo has an identical twin brother named Guille, who plays for Borussia Dortmund II.
Wober and Aaronson want to play at a higher level, as does every player. Aaronson had a chance to go out on loan again, instead he said he wanted to remain at Leeds and have a promotion push. At the weekend, fans started booing the pair of them, very intelligent indeed if they think that is going to help improve anything, what is it going to achieve. If the pair of them have an outstanding season then it will probably mean we are promoted. Piroe was the divisions leading scorer, Bamford is useful and he doesn't need to play more than half a season if Joseph continues his preseason form, Byram likewise, he only needs to fill in for Firpo and Bogle, Rothwell has looked good preseason and we have signings still to make. Point out another team in this division who has a better bench
All opinions mate. I’ve no idea who has or hasn’t a better squad as there hasn’t been a ball kicked yet and still nearly four weeks or transfer window remaining. It’ll only be the three or four contenders with us for promotion that we need watch out for. Bamford incidentally is soaking up about three players wages. A chronic waste of money given how tight the pennies are
Rumors according to sky is that Norwich have accepted a bid for Jonathan Rowe. A winger. What’s opinions on him. I don’t take much notice of Norwich playerd
Last I heard, they wanted £15m, we offered £6m. Not sure it's close, unless one side have caved, or we met in the middle.
Just had this from a Wolves fan relative Not sure if there’s anything from your end but some people I know of who are in the know are saying that Leeds have asked about Hugo Beuno from wolves. Very very good signing if it happens
Does he have a sister called Kinder that plays beach volleyball or something? I am sure I have heard of her.
Went to the match and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, and seeing so many fans in the yellow away kit, Ampadu is going to be a good Captain, talks to players and leads by example. Bogle is going to be good once he settles in. One thing I didn’t get was the booing of the two defectors, they had a Leeds shirt on so come on lads. Aaronson looked sharp and I think will change people thoughts, Wober looks as though he don’t want to be at LS11, time will tell. Joseph is looking comfortable up front, Bamford came on and when running looked like one of our lioness’s running. Going to be interesting!!! well it is Leeds United.
Think the booing was inevitable. The hope is fans have got it out of their systems now and can be a bit more positive when the proper games start saturday
Don't know much about him Eire, although I am sure that you were probably dreading me replying to this, because you know what's to come He's 21 scored 12 goals for Norwich from 27 starts last season, which was his breakthrough season for them. Only 2 assists so WJ won't be happy as that's worse than Summerville (sorry WJ couldn't resist ). Stats from last season for both Rowe and Summerville Seem fairly similar stats wise. Slightly more accurate with his shots than Summerville. Guessing he scored more of a wondergoal or fluke, given that he scored over double of his expected goals. Summerville dominates in possession, and touches etc, but that could also be an indication of our style of play last season, with most of our attacking play going down the left.
