I don't think he is selling, unless there is a premier league club he can buy. I don't think he is there financially so, he has to make Hull PL team then sell. Only choice for him.
My gut instinct is he's selling up. I cant reasonably think of anything he says that justifies him coming over unless he's bringing signings and promising the world.
It could well be that we're looking to bring in a DOF and he's taking a bit of a step back? Just seen mentioned, that if he were planning to sell, it would be far more likely to be a press conference than a fans Q&A
That will be theme. He is student of Erdogan in the end when it comes to annoucements. My Turkish side believes that he is not selling.
They offered Cooper the job before anyone else, I'm not sure how much more 'First choice' he could have been!
I don't think he would be doing a Q&A live streamed with commercial clients and members if he was selling up. He would surely just release a statement and not be answering questions etc. I think he will spend 90% of the Q&A talking about FFP. I might be wrong and the wording does seem a little ominous.
Club just put a message up thats its open to members. He needs to do this to either to squash or confirm the rumours because even the most diehard of City fans cannot be happy with the strength of our squad with the season about to start. We need to now why we are in this position and what it about to be done to rectify it.
I dont get why he's doing a Q&A either way personally if not for the show of it all. He's seen something online he feels he needs to address but just put a letter out. It feels really weird. I do buy into the notion that he wouldn't put himself in front of 200 people and say "I'm going to sell". That room would turn really quick
[QUOTE="Kalman II, post: Our Chairman, Acun Ilıcalı, has called a special Q&A on Tuesday 6 August to brief fans on his plans for the future. Acun Ilıcalı abdication speech - ' I want you to know the decision I have taken is mine and mine alone. Sorry for the cock up on the transfer front but I have more important things to worry about. I wish all you beautiful people happiness and prosperity with all my heart. God bless you all. God Save Me.' I want him to stick around. I still think he can make a go of this.
Can’t see “I’m selling right away” being the message. That would be a Baz Cooper sit down 1-1 in an environment that wouldn’t necessarily be hostile. Keep the faith, help on the way with an explanation on the causes/reasons for the slow progress with a pointing to Shelbourne walk away and his previous point of he’ll only stay as long as he’s wanted is my guess.
Its annoying it has to be done really but it is a sign of the times. Entitlement of people to demand the answers to things that are not really any of their business. It would be different if Tim had come out and said 'Acun is not backing me' or if players were handing in transfer requests or spouting once they have left about what a terrible club it is but they're not. To me it looks like a simple re-build of a squad that was littered with signings made by an over excited new owner. A proper manager has come in and been trusted with the job of building from the bottom up again. He knew it was needed and didnt trust Rosenior to do it which is fair enough. The basis of people spreading rumours about Acun appears to be because he has not spoken in public about City for 2 weeks. Something it was suggested might be better he did more often and let Tan and the Manager do the talking.
I was at an AGM once, we didnt have Q&A with the owners back in those days, when Chris Needler was the chairman. The club were in a bit of a state, crowds down, nothing on the pitch to speak about and generally the fans were pissed off so a vote of no confidence was raised. Needler quelled this by saying he was putting something like ten grand a week into the club from his own pocket and if anyone in the audience would like to contribute or take over please speak up now. Total silence, the vote of no confidence was dropped and we all shuffled out muttering to ourselves.
I don't think it's entitled to want to get a sense of where the club stands and why it's operating in such an - on the face of it - amateurish way. As I said earlier, if there's a reason for it - perhaps FFP issues or other factors - just explain them to the fans and they'd more than likely accept it. It's the radio silence for the last few weeks that's been the issue. The proper manager that's been brought in has been banging on about needing signings for the past few weeks too.
Nothing makes sense to do.a I don't understand it either. Why not just release a statement? You can tell the media mogul sees an opportunity...
It is our business. Owners, managers and players come and go but the supporters are the only constant. Being privy to transfer negotiations isn’t our business but the general state of the club definitely is.
I am sure you remember the days when you could just pin Martin Fish into a corner in the sponsors lounge and find out anything you like! How times have changed.
You should have called for a vote which he'd would have lost, oh ... The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
