I haven't managed to watch any of the friendlies yet, but it would be a big risk to put him in against anyone decent. I'm sure he's fine offensively, as he's a creative, dangerous and intelligent player. Playing in our incredibly high line as someone that's never been a defender, though? Really, really risky.
Solomon feels more like a Stambouli - quick and inexpensive (or, in his case, free) that can be moved on foe either straight cash or to knock a few million off a transfer fee ...mainly to offset the bungled attempt at a longterm LW that was Bryan Gil
When all logic fails to understand our mentality in the transfer market just put it ‘in the next few years they will be ready’ box
Yang can play right or left. Moore I prefer on the left a bit but he’s played right too and you’d hope will get gametime on both sides this season as we phase him more into the 1st team environment. I don’t think Solomon or Werner are seen as long term options for the club tbh. The former could play himself into that consideration but he’s not getting much time in preseason which probably says a lot. But they’re both relatively versatile players who aren’t costing us money to keep around and who do what Ange wants, just not necessarily at the elite level. Having them around for another year or so is good squad building. For me we still need a RW, a flexible left sided defender (mainly for LCB) and a striker. Maybe a midfielder too but we’re fairly well stocked there. I can’t see us selling Skipp this year due to European registration rules, though after GLC he’s probably next out of the door.
Nonsense. The club moves slower than molasses in these things. Every time it's the same timid ****. There's no drive to get things done. ENIC will piss around with this whilst Daniel wrings his hands and says how difficult it is in the current market...whilst every other club has investors pouring money into it. It hasn't happened because the club can use transfer money instead, whilst Daniel's shareholding is unaffected, things can proceed as per usual. No Daring. No Doing just the same old, same old.
I think some of us who enjoy a good moan might benefit from watching this video. It puts a lot of delays in important context.
I reckon Solomon could be sold, Moore getting the minutes in the K-League friendly isn't a good sign for him, today may give a further idea though. Getting a LCB might be tough, if we do get one I think it'll be a Jonny Evans type, just don't see someone either up and coming or in their prime fancying that spot, especially after Dragusin's minutes last season. It's why I laughed off those Calafiori links earlier in the window, that was a pipe dream. There needs to be a path in the near future for Phillips and Dorrington though, hence why I think an oldie makes sense. I think Skipp will go if an offer arrives. There's U21 players who are already arguably as good who can be given game time in the HG/ CG spots we don't fill with senior players. ST and RW are where I think we'll try to target if we actually get a move on but I won't hold my breath just yet. I know they're not universally popular on here but Toney and Neto would probably be my realistic picks to sign. I think Neto is tailor-made for Ange-ball and Toney minus the attitude would be a considerable upgrade on Richarlison, he also doesn't stand in the way of the long term development of Lankshear and co.
That Danish player at Lecce seems to fit the bill, as he is a LB who plays along similar lines to Udogie but can also play LCB Either that or Davies is the backup LCB for the season, albeit Ash Phillips' knock in pre-season is the likely main reason for that right now
Lots of people have complained that we haven't given young talent a chance and were critical of Ange over this. Maybe some of those players along with Spence's change of form / attitude have changed his plans. I have no idea if that's the case but it would explain the lack of urgency
That would explain the talk a while ago of signing a striker to push Richy's form, as opposed to push Richy out the door which someone like Vlahovic likely would
Solanke misses Bournemouth's friendly against Rayo Vallecano due to an injury Expect at least eighteen Twitter aggregators to miss the last four words
Can`t make my mind up about Solanke, he`s had one good season but he could be a late bloomer and he appears to fit what Ange requires. I`m getting feint Barren Dent vibes and £60m is steep in my book, £30m - £40m would be fair.
Solanke would conservatively have to improve by 50% to be a CF that would improve us. So it's a big 'no' for me, and that's at £40m, let alone £60m.
...in other news, Santi Aouna says we're keeping tabs on Reims CM Amir Richardson, who is currently at the Olympics with Morocco Given the combination of being another -son to add to the pile, plus he is remarkably Dembelesque when he movies with the ball, I'm interested He's also 6'6" so should be useful when opponents try blocking Vicario at corners (again) plus comes from sporting pedigree as his father Michael Ray Richardson is a four-time NBA Allstar, playing for the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and New Jersey Nets from the late 70s to mid 80s
