Went to the game today, a couple of observations. Giles will be sold as soon as we sign a replacement. He clearly wants out. Mehlem looks tidy, but got tired very quickly. Pandur looks fine to me. We won’t win a league game in August.
He can barely string a pass together in the new system that puts a lot of responsibility on the players to be technically sound. He was fine when he just had to pass to Greaves everytime
Well, that was disappointing! First half we looked quite promising until Reading stopped backing off us, then the goal, then Longman going off, we never recovered. We need Coyle back to put some backbone in the side, if he can do the lb job with Drameh on the right that might sort out one of our weaknesses. Mehlem looks like a good buy and Simons seems to be on the up. Not convinced by Pandur yet but he gets far too much stick from some on here. The Giles situation needs clarifying for everyone's sake and we still need a striker. McLoughlin's been playing well but is he looking to stay or go? Either way it leaves Jones looking a bit lonely and uncomfortable with the new style of play. Message for Acun, we could do with you fronting up, supporting Walter and placating an increasingly agitated fanbase. No bullshit, an honest statement of intent would go down nicely thank you. UTT
Anyone and everyone who has assumed doom and gloom for the coming season has had every right to spout off! In all probability the first 3 points of the season will pass us by. But we are where we are – having to start games with half a team of 3rd string players. It is clear we need to sign 5 extra quality first team players to have a competitive starting 11. The good news is; we may achieve this by the second game and secure 9 quality signings by the end of the month. Then we can start racking up some points - That’s my bet. Until then I can’t reasonably expect good performances – I'm happy to be considered delusional at this stage - after the end of August I hope I'm not pulling out what remains of my hair with the rest of you.
I don't agree with any of the assumptions flying around as it's all conjecture... That being said we definitely have problems if we can't get multiple players in for the opener as we're lacking a lot of quality and some of our stalwarts don't currently look like they're going to quickly pick this playing style up. Jacob looks gash in this system. Jones is struggling. Slater is struggling a bit too, same with Seri. Ömur, Oscar and Longman all needed subbing off. The youth players are nowhere near good enough to fill in, even as subs. Bare minimum we need another GK, a possible LB, a CB, possibly two, a DM, a CM, a LW, possibly two, maybe a RW and definitely two strikers... Probably a 10 as well. Any more outgoings and they need replacing as well. The club are working on it but why things are taking quite so long on the ones we've already heard about is perplexing. We need some more in for the next game, and in time to play too, yet Zambrano and Hughes are still in their respective squads. Not the most encouraging signs. I still have faith we'll get good business done, but the level of concern is starting to increase.
and??? Was it a junior fixture or full league game? it’s upto to the club to ensure you have a competitive team….same with city. Next sat will you say we lost but had a below strength team. Utter bollocks
I think Coyle will play LB Plum.... that would help. Drameh looked excellent at times today. Pandurs getting undeserved stick I feel, at least with his feet he looks comfortable and made a couple of decent saves today. We desperately need a commanding CB. I said earlier, we are not winning any crosses at all. Mehlem looked a player to me, so thats a bonus.
