Has somebody told Bayern that they don't need to be doing constant tactical fouls in a pre-season friendly ...or did somebody tell them they won't be carded if they do constant tactical fouls in a pre-season friendly?
Yeah I agree. Obviously goals like that one, where we mess up our buildup and get punished, are a bit different. But I was thinking that a lot of it last year was because we struggled to find the right balance in midfield. Even when Bissouma was on form he’s not really that destructive, protective 6. But when you look at the individual quality of our starting back 4, we conceded far too many.
Vicario could improve, he’s used to the league now and should have more confidence going into his second season Porro defensively worries me and think he always will. Romero and Van De Ven could be a very good partnership Udogie is the best of the lot for me, kid isn’t perfect has huge potential. Not seen enough of Dragusin yet to judge him for Spurs
Tough half that. When we don’t have possession, Kulusevski at 9 is a real hard watch. Generally just finding it really hard to hold onto possession. Hopefully good exposure for some of the younger players at least.
I’m enjoying a street food festival down on the sea front. Glad I didn’t decide to stay in and watch the game beforehand, everything I’ve read on Twitter and my group chat implies we look horrendous. The stats don’t look pretty either. Bring on the new season!
He’s not a number 9 at all. If the club want to sign a RW to move him into the middle instead of signing a ST then that won’t end well
The worrying thing is that Bayern aren’t even the Bayern that they previously have been. They are no better than the top 3 in the premier league which is really worrying so close to the season. the only positive is that is how’s how badly we need new signings in the next couple of weeks. At the moment we are just setting Ange up to fail. If we don’t get at least one big signing then the knives will really be out for Levy. And I am generally a supporter of him and what he has done for the club.
Only watching the 2nd half, and once again you see just how over-rated and overpaid PL players generally are.
1. It is a friendly...means nothing 2. We are without Romero, VdV plus others. 3. The youngsters were excellent in the second half. 4. Werner *sigh*
Anyone else worried about Maddison? I know I’ve been vocal in not being a fan of him but even the most pro Maddison on here must be worried how poor he’s been for a long time now?
With the stream ending on Bayern's Youtube page the best part of ten minutes from the end, it's a shame our Twitter didn't pretend Werner came on and scored a Bergwijnesque hat trick in injury time
Bergvall's showing today hopefully gave him (and possibly Bentancur) a kick up the backside He showed a lot today, and he's going to want their spot in the team
Yeah he looks confident on the ball and bags of potential. Both Maddison and Bentancur need to start the season well as both been off it for far too long
It means a lot. You get to see how players, being completely unburdened by the consequences of individual/collective failure, actually play. In addition to my previous comment about PL players, there are currently too many players in the Spurs squad who repeatedly exhibit the above failure.
Disagree...United (back in the day) regularly had poor pre seasons yet continued to win titles. Arsenal, during their dry spell, regularly had great pre seasons but poor seasons. I also remember our pre season in 2008...won all our games...the last against Roma (?) 5-1...then went on to get just 2 points from our first 8 games. So IMHO friendlies are about fitness and practice
