    We’re going to sign Guehi!
Right winger is still up for debate but the fact that it is reported that PM flew to Turkey then Yilmaz could be that player

I’d wager that no other club is in for Guehi, hence we’ve gone public. If it’s Ornstein/BBC it has to pass rigorous checks so this could even be Press Association (meaning someone from NUFC and/or Palace have gone official with it).

Yilmaz is just Turkish media, but he fits the profile. I suspect we have a few irons in the fire and if Palace think we could still want Thiaw (or Milan think we’ve moved away from said player) then these are good games to play. Same with Guler/Yilmaz potentially. Interesting that we’re linked with a Turkish player, allegedly rebuffed then immediately after another.

I think we’ve just stepped up and welcome to the Mitchell way.

Moukoko (another I think we've been linked with previously) appears to be heading to Marseilles.

That looks a missed opportunity. Probably turn out he cost them the same as the Sheffield Utd striker we've gone for... Then we'll be back in for around £70m in a couple of years lol

Sort of but not really - he wants games and he’s nowhere near Isaks level, and probably not as good as a fit Wilson. As I said, trying to find a good, young third choice CF who is ready step in is very challenging. I think maybe Brereton Diaz could’ve been a good shout, but happy with Osula if he comes.

I mean if we can end the window with Kelly, Osula, Guehi and Guler/Yilmaz we’re doing ok without any euro burden.

Be disappointed to miss out on that lad. Goal contribution every 103 mins in the Bundesliga and only 19. Next cab off the Dortmund production line should be something we are all over. Depends on cost though I guess.

I can see why the club are blowing a big chunk of the budget on Guehi though:

    Tino (21) - Guehi (24) - Botman (24) - Hall (19)

That defence could last us 10 years easily and is class. Then with the other defenders, Trippier, Krafth, Lascelles, Schar, Burn all have contacts ending this year and Matty Targett the following year. Maybe Schar and Burn will get extensions but will still need a few more in in the next year or two to compete with the young lads.

I actually think we need Guehi and Thiaw given the ages/ability of Trips, Schar and Burn.

I saw somewhere saying that could we go to a back 5 negating the need for a right winger.

Could be interesting. Clearly there are pros and cons of that system, but mostly depends on how the oppesition set up and then the team's ability to transition between more defensive 5-3-2 and more attacking 3-5-2 / 3-4-1-2.

The likes of Man City quite often set up with 3 at the back and oher players interchanging.

Only way I could see us getting both Guehi and Thiaw is if Thiaw is on a season long loan with obligation/option at the end of the year. No way we can spend 100m on CB's this summer.

Osula clearly coming as a Wilson replacement for the future so CF crossed off the list - one of the two CB's sort's the defence and then a RW - again may be a loan with option at the end as I don't think we will spend massive if we spend between 40-60m on Thiaw or Guehi

Barnes looks like 45 million down the drain.. should have bought a defender or rw player

Scored more than than Murphy and Miggy despite missing half the season so he's levels above for me. Him and Gordon can last 4/5 years down that left hand side and both good options to rotate for a long campaign (Cup runs/Europe).

It's a shame the other side (RW) is so much further behind but once we replace Miggy and Murphy and get a decent striker in to back up Isak that's the front 3 sorted. Midfield need a replacement for Longstaff and we look solid there. More cover across the back but the 3 young we currently have (plus a young CB coming in) look great.

Problem position for me is GK - after Pope the quality drops off a cliff and even Pope is a worry with his shoulder.

Barnes is ****. Sorry. Utter waste of time and money last year, someone should’ve been sacked for that one.

I thought Barnes numbers were very good but I didn't realise how crap he is at playing football. I'm with Roland on Barnes.

    45 million? Jesus

He’s a one trick pony. Runs in straight lines and occasionally hits a good shot and - less frequently
    - a good cross. Zero intelligence, zero positional, zero passing.

He looked exactly the same at Leicester.
