Blimey, Power, bit different from what you were saying a month or two ago, pretty sure you said something about hoping we'd sign multiple £60m-£80m players as we could spend over £200m plus money from sales.

Now you're just hoping we sell some more deadwood to scrape together enough for a single striker!

I miscalculated...it's more like £100m plus money from sales. And we've spent nearly half of that already.

And not even really improved, going to be a painful summer it seems.

I did read we were around £230m under FFP which is possibly where your original calculations may have stemmed from but I guess it was extremely wishful thinking the club would actually act on that and "go for it".

I don't think the ffp limit is the issue....I think it is the covenant on the stadium loans which requires our cash flow to cover the interest times an undisclosed multiplier. I forgot to take the CL income out of my calculation....

The hotel needs funding. Unless ENIC pull their ****ing fingers out, the football club will end up funding further ENIC development projects, to the detriment of the sporting aspirations of supporters, coach, players, etc.

If the beauty parade of investors lasts half as long as the search for a stadium sponsor, we'll be onto Ange's successor's successor's successor and we'll be no nearer winning anything.

Less posturing, more action, please COYS Daniel!!

I don't think it works like that....they can borrow to fund the hotel using a different entity

If they need to borrow then maybe they shouldn’t build it.

All well and good saying it will bring income but what’s the point if it means huge expenditure short term which affects the most important thing which is the football team.

If they borrow the money in a company dedicated to building the hotel then it won't affect the team in the short run at all.

It's funny because I've gone from believing that striker was the position that we desperately needed a signing to not being that bothered.
Postecoglou seems to have finally realised that playing Son up front against most teams isn't workable.
Kulusevski can definitely do a job there, Richarlison's good when he's fit and we've got good youth options, too.

Given we're in Europe and the new format involves lots of games I still think bringing someone in would be a good idea.
Backup/competition for Udogie and Vicario should take priority though, in my opinion.
We have no depth in either position that doesn't require weakening somewhere else. Not acceptable, for me.

Daniel announced that the club was seeking investors to fund the development and transfers earlier this year.

The problem is that he/ENIC actually has to choose someone and then hand over a significant shareholding to get their hands on the lolly.

    Daniel's skills lie elsewhere.

For some reason r/coys is fixating on a RW

Surely a longterm plan for a LW is the obvious priority for our forwards?

I think it depends on what the club sees in the future of Mikey Moore and some of his colleagues.
I doubt Jamie Donley is seen as a left-back, but he may have played his way into consideration at LW.

I don't think choosing someone is the issue...it is finding someone who will meet the valuation.

I don't think this is affecting transfers in the short run though...I think we will have the normal net £100m to spend. Of course a 25% stake at a £3b valuation would raise £1b cash which would be a massive game changer but that will take a long time to negotiate whoever was in charge

Donley looked just about ideal to play in the Ange LB role, I thought. When picking up the ball in the inside forward position he put in some really dangerous passes.

Last season Donley got a handful of minutes in the Maddison role, though Bergvall is probably going to be preferred there

...barring the weirdos insisting he's taking Bissouma's spot

The long term LW could well be Mikey or Yang. Plus I still don't see Son declining to a worrying level within the next two years so I don't think there's a huge concern there - and by then one of Moore/ Yang could well be ready to push Son down to being a squad player.

The RW spot though is a bit more problematic. Neither Kulu or Johnson have nailed the spot down to an encouraging level, both have only shown glimpses. There's more leniency on Johnson due to debut season but I think it's fair for fans/ media to have concerns and therefore links to a new player. Ultimately we need to improve the team that finished 5th last season and looking at it, the RW, ST and DM spots are the areas where we don't really have a standout starting option.
