Personally, I'll have a go at the shot putt, as this seems to be the event with least movement. I'm not sure about the athletic quality of the rest of the posters on this board. Or does 'we' extend beyond Not606'ers?
Amazing 10,000m race from all the athletes. Very high quality with many running inside 27 minutes. Well done Joshua Cheptegei with a new olympic record.
I wonder how many WRs we’ll see on the track. Seen a fair few comments already about how ‘quick’ the track is. I assume there must be laws around the design of the track in order for WRs to be ratified.
There was always talk about racing on 'cinder tracks', so if you fell, it was very painful, and very dirty. I remember watching the Commonwealth Games being held in Edinburgh, in 1970 (I had to look up the year), and the commentators were forever talking about the 'Tartan Track' that had been laid down in the Meadowbank arena, as it was a new surface, akin to rubber, that allowed runners to go much faster. Or something like that.
Shame that Peaty isn't ready to feature in the mixed medley relay final later. It's one of my favourite events of the entire Olympics.
