Shea Charles definitely isn't ready for prem football not in the way thar Russ would want the DM to play.

I never want to see WS in the 6 again.

I think Sheaf might be too expensive in that 6 role for a back up.
Where is any mention of Sheaf coming from? Is this the Saintsweb post about us having a scout at a Coventry game? Can’t think who else we could possibly be watching from them. Simms joined too recently didn’t he but is the only other player of real value in a position we need. But probably not what we are after

Is there not a chance Sheaf could play with OR instead of Downes. Either a lone 6 if needed or instead of Aribo

Sounds like he is a different type of DM. Combative and tackling - more Roy Keane than Michael Carrick? Perhaps Smallbone might work as a 6 in stead of Downes if Sheaf is supporting?

From what I know of him and have seen of him, definitely yes - and I imagine that's part of the appeal in adding to the midfield options. Injuries and peaks and troughs in form will happen throughout the season, after all

Charles to Celtic would be a great move for him.
I’d prefer a loan as I think there is a player there in a couple of seasons ready for the PL, but as a club we have to be realistic and we desperately need a team capable of competing today

Plus he would get the chance to win a trophy or two.

Blimey, Saint Gaston was 12 seasons ago. He's - appropriately - still going though. Just signed for the team he started at in Penerol.
I recall that thread being the reason I first created an account. I think it was to post a message to tell you lot to stop getting your hopes up as he won't be signing... see, I've been wrong from the very start!

According to the Daily Record Celtic do have interest in some sort of deal for Charles but want it to be separate to the O’Reilly deal, similar I guess to Downes/KWP for us and West Ham
